Description Fat dragon is fat! O_o

I've always loved the concept of dragons and innocent maidens enjoying each others' company (the whole "beauty and the beast" archetype.). And, as we know, I don't draw nearly enough dragons anymore...

Recently this idea popped in my head because of, well.. those logos on baby changing stations in bathrooms. lol It reminded me of how much I like high-contrast logo-like graphics.

I'll have you know this is the most successful girl I've ever drawn! SO YOU BETTER LIKE IT!

Hey, look! I even made a desktop version. How kind of me. [link]

Done in Photoshop; 5-6 hours.

Great dragon! I've missed your dragons. And the contrast of the white lines for the black dragon. oh, and by the way, I LOVE the Dealing with Dragon series and Dragon's Milk. I have all five books, fairly old, in really nice condition. ^_^

This looks really good, I like how the face of the girl came out.

Too bad my resolution is too high for that photo.

Did you draw this? Or did you use computer?

I used the computer for this one. It's surprisingly easy in Photoshop to make your lines "perfect" by using black and white. Obviously it takes forever because you have to move slowly along the entire picture.. O_o

How high is your resolution? I only made it 1440x900 because that's what my laptop uses.

My resolution is too high... I got one of the new 27" iMacs, and the resolution is above 1080p. I think it was 2560x1440

I wish they would stop making the resolution bigger and bigger... Human eyes can't even notice much more than that. And they should invest more money into things like diamond processors. The diamond processor someone made could go 81ghz! That's more power than the CPUs and GPUs of 10 computers combined!

In case you want it, I made this for you: [link]

Wow, that is huge!! I know what you mean. It's kinda like the problem with Blu-Ray. It's just too much sometimes! Those old movies aren't meant to have every detail seen, and in many cases the details aren't more important than the story. In that case you get movies like Transformers 2. (Honestly, I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it was awful...)

Diamond processor? I've never heard of that... I'll look into it.

Perhaps the maiden is comfortably sleeping on the dragon due to the dragon being full from a large meal.

I've always liked dragons and maidens getting along, too. Did you ever read the Dealing With Dragons series? I want to read it again now because of this. (Or maybe Dragon's Milk. I need a copy of that for myself.)

Yeah, really. He's certainly fat enough for it!

Ooh yeah, Dealing with Dragons was great! And you're lucky -- the new books have cover art by Peter De Séve and they're WAY better than mine! Here's the cover art for the first book: [link]

Yeah, imagine my shock when I discovered that Tom has a nearly-untouched Dragon's Milk on his shelf that is the same edition as mine! AND HE HASN'T READ IT!

Did you ever read the rest of the series? They were really good!

I remember artwork that was very realistic for the series, which I liked, but this style certainly fits the mood of the series. Dealing With Dragons was a great series, even if it got a bit ridiculous at the end. For some reason I'll always recall that little lizard talking to the prince in questions when I think of the later books..

Time to make Tom repent of his book-neglecting ways! If he doesn't want to read that book, I certainly will! And I think I read the later books, it's been so long.. Wasn't there a later one about a sister to the main character and her affinity to hawks? I'll have to see about digging up the books one of these days when I have money again.

Yes. There's "Flight of the Dragon Kyn" which is the one about Kaeldra's ansestor Kara (prequel), and "Sign of the Dove" is the third book about Lyf (sequel).

Yeah, I want Tom to give me his copy because mine is falling apart! D:

Okay, I'm pretty sure I read them once upon a time. I'd have to read them again. I read Dragon's Milk more than once so it's easier for me to remember (and possibly because I enjoyed it more. The three baby dragons always reminded me of our own three kittens.)

Your copy has been well loved, it's true. That's the sign of a good book!

I don't want to know which cat corresponded to poor Synge. D:

I think each of my friends read it once... so it's been through a lot of people. I kind of forced it on them as a kid, lol...

It's been so long since I read it that I can't quite remember Synge's personality, but I'm thinking Synge corresponded to Tawny. I guess it doesn't matter so much now since they've all since passed on.. (I did find the first fifteen chapters posted online as a preview of the book, but parts have been omitted. I really do need to buy the book when I have the funds to do so.)

You're such a cruel friend. Annie never liked reading, so I usually kept what I read to myself since she didn't care.
