Description "I could only watch as they killed my mother and siblings. I was helpless."

A back-story event of one of my characters, Zhenah-byth.
**
In the story, the dragons genetics have become limited to a handful of different dragons races, all of which believe they are "true dragons" like their ancestors. It is because of this subdivision that racial mixing is severely looked down upon. When a young Nymalli and her Ghraliff mate are discovered, a pack of Nymallian assassins are sent to destroy them.

When the ambushed happened Zhenah-byth was able to hide before being seen. From her hiding place she watched in horror as her brothers, sisters, and mother were killed. Her father returns to the cave to find his family dead, but discovers his whimpering daughter -- the only survivor -- paralysed with fear among stone debris.

Zhen and her father live in secret for many years as she ages.
**

Two days ago, my pet chameleon Ridley passed away. It was very sudden. The sadness of the event moved me to depict this -- finally. May he rest in peace.

Anyway, hopefully we'll see more of this story in my future artwork. It's a webcomic I've been wanting to make for years about dragons.

omg! I remember looking at your pitues of Zhenah-Byth and Khelik and Korjack. :3
her story reminds me of a book I read called 'The Outcast', were a dragon is mad at his family because since he didn't win the battle of respect with his siblings at birth, he was oucast. and made a pact with elves while his father was away to kill his mother nd three of his siblings, exept his favourite sister, but they kill the wrong sibling, and his rival sibling escapes unscathed. its really sad.

but this pick is great.

Hey, that's cool that you remembered! Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

That does sound sad. A novel or online story?

Dang, he died? I'm really sad to hear that. Was he stressed from the move do you think, or what? It's unfortunate what brought this picture about, but that said, the picture is very good. I find it interesting that your old art style for dragons has snuck back in. (While searching for an image the other day, an ancient dragon drawing of yours popped up in Google. Somewhere in the far recesses of the internet, that old dragon site of yours is alive and well.)

You ought to go ahead and pursue that comic idea finally. Don't think I've forgotten your old beginning or all of the character art you did! Webcomics are a big thing now, and who knows, you might be able to make a living off it if people like it enough.

Much luck, little sis. And again, I'm sorry to hear about Ridley.

Yeah, it was horrible. I really think it could have been prevented. It's been really hot here lately -- about 90-100 degrees -- and he'd been fine the first day. Before I left the day he died I saw him drinking water off his leaves. Even though Tom's mom moved him into the shade like I did the day before, I think he just couldn't get away from the heat and couldn't handle it. It's still kind of hard to believe that he's gone so suddenly. I do miss him a lot.

Anyway, my style of drawing dragons has never really changed. People always liked them so much that I figured there was no need for them to change (except for the accuracy of anatomy of course). Also, they're like second nature to draw which is why this comic might be easier than I think.

Thanks a lot. See you at Christmas.

Poor thing! That must have been harsh for him to deal with, since Washington isn't quite so hot. If he had been moved down when it was cooler out, it might have given him more of a chance to become acclimated. That's just so sad though... Pets that aren't very vocal really are harder to tell when they're in distress. I would have hated to make that discovery...

I always liked your dragons too. I've been dabbling into them a bit more myself (they really are easier to draw when I think of basing their general anatomy on a cat) and I'm finding that I really like drawing them more simplified. I'll leave the detailed dragons to the 'rofessional' artists. I'm actually going to be animating one in Flash soon, so we'll see how that goes.

Seriously, make that comic. I ought to draw some of the comic ideas I had now that I'm feeling more comfortable using programs like Illustrator. (And Christmas should be awesome. I can't wait!)
