Description
day after day she waited,
her memories a muted haze

she could no longer recall her reasons,
the ingrained pain numbed only by time.

years and years and years passed,
only her heart's yearning was unceasing

all that she longed and longed and longed for
was never returning, forever hurting.

I wish we had an Illustrative category. Anyway, here's my attempt to continue the Forgotten Fairytales series (in vain). But I think it thoroughly spells my obsession with J.W. Waterhouse. ^^

Yes it was freezing cold when we did the shoot. I've a knack for torturing my models, we've established that by now.

This image is included in my new postcard book , it will be available for sale at the Singapore Toy Games and Comic Con next weekend. I'm sharing a booth at the Artist Alley with *noah-kh so do drop by if you can

Also~!! My new site is up~ drop by and take a look if you've some time and let me know what you think ^^ - zhangjingna.com

PS: I'm also heading to LA and NY next month, read more here .

Absolutely beautiful! As always, you've created a visual beauty. Here, it evokes a moody fairy-tale piece, somewhat reminding me of a cross of Ophelia and of the Frog Prince. I'm not sure what to suggest--I like the fact that her skin has a pearl-pink hue to it, rather than a milk-white skin tone that I feel is often vied for in dark fairy tale artwork.

I'm not a very good critiquer, but perhaps those blades of grass in the lower right corner could be considered somewhat distractive. I think they detract from everything else in the photo. But I could be wrong.

This is in the same genre as 'Ophelia' by Sir John Everett Millais, a Pre-Raphaelite painter. Her facial features is sensual, melancholy tranquility and exquisite which the Pre-Raphaelite and the Raphaelite attempted to capture. You truly have achieved this here. The color of her hair, flowers and skin is pronounced by all the murky green and touch of brown in the background. The composition is centered, even though half of the photo is more busy than the other half. The lighting on her is a bit stark considering the background, which is great for fashion. May I suggest less contrast of shadow and light to have the quality of faerie-tale. It has the beginning of ethereal sense which I believe you want to convey. When awaiting for so long, one does tend to fade. Still, the photo is gorgeous. Your technique is perfection.

Nothing original...... in world and your gallery, but still very good photo for fashion commercial word, i can see this in some really high fashion magazines or in similar advertisement.

Technique is thing, which is really great in your hands, so we can never mind.. you have a great standart... i like little noice in photo, especially... it is vibrant.. and i feel comfort.. strange?.. hmm

Square format is fine, but i am not sure, that is the best choice, but i can see others, so it is ok...

On of your average for now e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)" />..
I hope, that my opinion can be spoken here in peace...

I wish you good luck in next works

Perhaps I'm too hard, but for opening with "This isn't original" I think your rating of 3.5 is generous under originality.

Lady Flame's face is as delicate and yet destructive with the sense of fashion and passion. It is most astonishing to see a darker reflecting of her arm reaching towards the upper world from the darkness.

You certainly have an intriguing selection of models in your hands, Lady Jingna. As there is darkness displayed here, there is also a form of light..

I can tell by her skin complexion to her dark-textured dress, the sharper branches from behind her to the pastured branches, and the disintegrated mildew below her to the greener grass strands on the other side of the photograph, but I would have wished the flowers to be somewhat of a wither as well..preferably isolating one another in the cold creek around her. I bet it would also be favorable if crushed petals were under the floral decor of Lady Flame's dress.

I hope I have done a decent job to critique the work of a legendary artist..and I hope this message finds you in superior health. Good day.

This is an absolutely breathtaking image, and have been eagerly anticipating its upload on dA ever since I saw it elsewhere on the web. I enjoy the dark moody colours of the photograph, as they lend themselves well to a sense of mystery and romanticism. The model is simply exquisite both in looks, and the courage it obviously took to submerge herself in the icy waters is astounding! I find the square cropping to be a little too tight and awkward. It may just be personal tastes, or purely because we rarely see square format from Zhang, but although the model is more than captivating on her own, I would love to see more of the surrounding landscape, perhaps framing her off-centre in a landscape image would have led to an increased sense of movement and story. Absolutely beautiful nonetheless.
