In the ancient times, Zeotep rose through the rank of high priest mages faster then any other before him. But his power and skill lead to arrogance. At the height of his power Zeotep challenged Anubis himself for the title of "Keeper of the Dead." Zeotep was easily defeat, but Anubis did not kill him. To punish Zeotep for challenging him, Anubis cursed Zeotep with endless bandages that would keep him bound and alive as long as he was wrapped. Mummified alive and sealed within an unmarked tomb, Zeotep was to spend all eternity unable to use his incredible powers.

But the fox was far more crafty then Anubis had thought. Instead of fighting his curse, Zeotep embraced it. Over time, he gained full control over his bandages. He could not completely free himself as the curse would create more bandages to rewrap him, but he was able to gain enough control to release his limbs and regain his ability to move. Escaping his tomb, he travels the world seeking to prove that he is the true master of mummification, even if he has to wrap the world; one mummified victim at a time.
