Description

Death awaits the hunted lovers.

I'm drawing seriously now; no more doodling since it's summer and I'm back home. Yayy

I sort of interpret the girl to be a figment of the guy's imagination, a kind of desperate hope that he'll get away. But the folks in the background are totally going to find him frozen solid under a tree.

Okay. 1. Bounce light from the snow. You made his arm higher in value which is most likely because your light source is up there, but since snow is really reflektive you would get a much higher value on his entire body as well. Same with the girls hair and dress. (White is a pain in the butt to render)
2. Value separation. Your character and the tree couldn't have the same value, since skin behaves more reflektive, hence higher value, while wood is less reflective, hence darker overall value.  Try separating Foreground, Midground, Background. This would make the Foreground the most detailed (your Characters). The woods (midground) would need more depth (reduce contrast and color saturation the further away it is.)

Finally Background, which is the Charterers with torches. Reduce saturation and detail. (Actually with all the snow they would be almost impossible to see.)

Consensus: You're making the background darker in value the further you go away. I would suggest you reverse it and make it lighter in value, the further away. Also change the value of the forest more to give it more depth, since it looks almost plain, like a cardboard cutout.

Thank you so much for the critique : )) I gotta think about environment lighting and atmospheric perspective. I'm gonna be using more environment/space in future arts so I'll use your tips. If you ever want to critique my work, feel free.
