I've been interested in doing a Sonic Adventure style pic of my Sonic characters for a while now, but the art style is different than how I normally color. But, after hours of working, I finally got this done. I'm gonna do SA style pics of all my other characters, adding in bits of their elements in the pic too.
Azure the Dragon is the youngest of the Mythos family and the embodiment of the element of lightning. She ran away from her home in Mythsetia Veil to go against her brother Garnett's plot of world destruction using their powers over the elements. She tracked down her uncle, Azreal who had been long banished from the family, and was taken under his wing. In hopes of proving that her family isn't evil, Azure joins GUN to use her powers for good as well as to find the means she needed to keep her highly evolved powers in check. During that time, she develops a strong admiration, which eventually turned into a crush, for Shadow the Hedgehog, GUN's top agent.

Let's get this started with the character that brought your series to life and kick-started it all; Azure the Dragon. (By the way I'm gonna judge this with the information right in front of me right now, meaning the picture itself and the description given for this picture. Same goes for all the other character pics.)
Vision: "Does the artwork present or reflect a point of view, theme or idea?" In short; yes. Aside from the obvious Sonic theme, the vision I'm seeing here is a character who wants to forge her own identity away from her family. Her high energy pose makes me think of that free spirit who makes her own rules, longing for more than what's been given to her. This is solidified with her outfit. It's nothing proper or high class at all. Long boots, black vest, leg bands, and colorful, Tron-looking wrist gauntlets: Yeah, definitely the family member that people will look at. Does this sound familiar?
Originality: "Is the artwork fresh or new in its style, execution or approach? Is it something you haven't seen before in its particular genre? Does it surprise you?" Again, this is a common style and nothing too new. But it has its own identity that can be recognized as yours. So I'll just touch on the characters themselves and not the style used to represent the species in a Sonic style. Azure's design as a dragon is quite interesting. I know dragon lore and looks vary greatly depending on the culture that they are depicted in, but the traits I think of when I think "dragon" are; scaly skin, wings, elongated snout, tail, and carnivorous teeth. Wings are a check. They're their. Scaly skin...can't tell with the picture, but one can assume she does. She's got the tail of course, and she's even got those dragon back spine things (not sure what to call them) running along her tail. Carnivorous teeth...Well I see canines in her toothy smile, so I'll take that. As for the snout, that's what throws me off a bit when it comes to a dragon appearance. She has a similar facial structure as many of the Sonic caste, such as Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, and Rouge. And they are all mammals. So it makes her appear to have some more mammalian features than what is the typical look of many dragons. That bumps up the originality score quite a bit. However, that being said, before I read her name as being "Azure the Dragon", I thought she was a bat of something, and it's all because of the face. Also the hair...I don't think I've ever seen a dragon with long flowing hair before.
Technique: "Was the artwork skillfully created? Does the artist exhibit advanced knowledge of the medium and/or bring special focus to the craft of the medium used?" Honestly, this does have skill to it, but with a few rough edges. Starting with the good: The colors are beautiful. They say that colors can invoke emotions. Well when I look at this, with its calming greens and soothing blues...you get the idea. It's a calming picture in coloration, with a hint of energy from the characters open smile and energetic pose. Proportions are good too, as far as Sonic characters go. Details are abound here. Her boots are with buckles and colorful stripes, adding more to her outfit and design. However, there are things that are a little jarring. Some of the outlines look a little shaky sometimes. For instance, the subtle curves I see on her boots (mainly on the top). Those just give off an impression that some things might have been rushed or glazed over a bit.
Impact: "Does the artwork resonate with you or evoke strong emotions? Does it make you think? Does it blow your mind?" Blow my mind? No. Make me think? Yes! remember what I asked up in the Vision section: "Does this sound familiar?" It should because I just described in a way what many think of when the topic of the typical American teenage girl comes into play. That girl that is coming into her own, wanting more out of life than what's been given to her (especially one who hates her current life), and having the rebellious spark within her, with a pinch of repressed romantic feelings toward someone. So that is what I see in Azure. She is that teenage girl that many other teenage girls could read about and understand what she is going through.
Personal Thoughts: I'd like to bring up the "teenage girl" parallel again for just a bit. I ABSOLUTELY feel for Azure and how she feels about her family. I have a sister who wants nothing more than to get our of the house, explore the world, and forge a name for herself. So with that older brother mentality, I almost can see my sister in Azure. That adds a much deeper personal connection for me with this character. And the picture itself is one that I could almost see being put up as official Sonic art (if of course, Azure was something Sega cooked up). However, I'll have to give those bits of art a few more points over this one. There's just a few spots that I think lacked polish.Don't worry, you don't need to defend your artwork. It's still beautiful to look at and the pros DEFINITELY outweigh the cons. Just maybe there are some things to look out for.

and I really like azure I read your stories on fanfiction and I never stop reading it azure is my favorite character I guess it's because dragons are my favorite animal and pokemon type but I hope to see more of her thanks!

.....this maked me TOTALLY reconcidder my main OC cody the dragon. but hes a storm dragon so ill not make it look exactly like this. for one, the ears....2 hes a storm dragon so his horns and tail will be diffent. 3 he is 15 so he will look young and his main color is green and also...hes a guy so....yea. but thank you so much for letting me see this!

Woah yeah baby thats lighting power right there with a zing of thunderous emotions right behind it! Now that I look closer at Azure's design here, her gloves and lower down them Ive noticed are a great mix of full on techno but with a sort of old anicent theme to them I sort of feel, but otherwise you really pulled this one up and off into the air with success!
