Ruby Rose thoroughly cleaning and maintaining her beloved scythe during her spare time.My opinion of the late Monty Oum has shot up immeasurably. That he not only came up with, but completely detailed the complex machine that is Crescent Rose is simply astounding. I could hardly pull this off even with references.
(Many thanks to those brave souls who seek to build their own Crescent Rose and were kind enough to post their blueprints! I would not have managed otherwise!)

This is Ruby we're talking about. Even without her Semblance she could probably field strip the darn thing in less than five minutes.

YEah, when you think about it, a weapon like that's gotta be incredibly complex. Ruby has to know how to disassemble it, clean it, sharpen the parts that need sharpening, make sure the gun bit works and put it back together as well as lug that thing around on her WAIST. My respect for Rubes just went way up.

Without a doubt. And to think, Ruby not only designed it but built it herself! It's also made out of a light-weight material which is why the recoil from each shot is so strong, so it's not really that heavy for her.
But, yeah, you have to respect the tiny15-year-old walking around with a scythe bigger than she is.

And she learned how to use the scythe from her uncle Qrow, the only other person who is explicitly stated, by the headmaster of the highest rated combat school in Remnant, to not only wield a scythe, but wield it with the same if not a higher level of skill than Ruby herself. And that's only the scythe style if we assume that Qrow doesn't have a rifle built into his. The rest of it she figured out and mastered by herself. Ruby just keeps accumulating awesome and it is GLORIOUS.

Definitely higher. Qrow is a veteran hunter who has likely had decades to hone his chosen style. What we see Ruby use is likely just the bare basics of scythe-wielding. It's likely that Qrow just gave her the generic foundation of Scythe wielding since her build, personal style, and weapon will undoubtedly be different from his own.
Since pretty much every weapon used by a Hunter has a gun attached, it's pretty safe to assume that Qrow follows that trend. It might be a more archiac method, though, like Weiss and her Myrtenaster.
Since it's been hinted that Blake's weapon will be modified, I suspect Ruby might alter Crescent Rose eventually for greater adaptability. And oh the doors that will open from there...

Well, apart from Jaune and Cardin. That said, I'm waiting for the day Qrow shows up and starts kicking ass.
The possibilities, man... I'm just picturing the Future!AU version of Yang with the fire-blades on Ember Cecelia, only nineteen years old and pounding the fools into the ground.
