Description A view of the Jansek Mountains on Katouchu Orbital.
The Orbital Mind once formed part of the triumverate of Minds that made up the Continent Class GSV Technically It's Called Dancing. However, having spent almost three centuries travelling the galaxy, including two trips to the Smaller Cloud and playing a minor role in the Fanforian Crisis, the Mind retired from the GSV and took up its current post as Hub for the Katouchu Orbital, located in the Greater Arc Cluster.
Damitau Plate has no permanent resident citizens, being a wild-life preserve with habitats suited to human-environment compatible sub-sentient species.

OK, here it is, the final version of my Orbital project. It's taken long enough, but I'm glad it's fianlly done and I'm pretty pleased with it. I hope you like it.

The term "Orbital" in this context is © Iain M Banks, as are the terms "Culture", "GSV", "Continent Class" and associated other terms.

Now... back on with the City thing.

As a die hard Culture fan who started off by reading Consider Phlebas I am predisposed to love this illustration. One of the great set pieces in that book was the deliberate destruction of one of their orbitals by the Culture during a galactic 'scorched earth' style tactical retreat from the growing front of the Idiran/Culture war. I'm still trying to imagine the combined effect of 'grid fire and Collapsed Anti-Matter dust!

Aww - I'm not that good. Check out , now he's GOOD.

I used Vue d'Esprit 4.2 by eon software - a stunning landscape generator, although I now use version 5 Infinite.

The fuzzy thing is the arc of the orbital. An orbital is like a baby Ringworld , a giant hoop in space which generates the illusion of gravity by spinning. See this Culture Orbital for more details.
