Well, personally, I don't think that Sans should forgive Flowey. Not like this.
Flowey has to work hard to gain his trust and show by his actions that he feels truly sorry about the past and that he wants to change. Words won't change the past. Words will never heal Sans' soul or the trauma he's going through. So, I seriously disagree with anyone here who says that Sans should see that Flowey has changed and that he should forgive him in order to move on. Sans' hate, his resentment towards Flowey, has been strenghtened over hundreds maybe even thousands of resets.
It's not like Flowey did one horrible thing that needs to be forgiven. Flowey wiped out the whole Underworld, made Sans watch him killing his own brother or even torturing Papyrus and only God knows what kind of awful things he did in the past, but the fact is, Flowey will never gain Sans' trust if he simply says "I'm sorry, Sans", because words, at this point, have no meaning at all. Flowey, during the game, even took pride in his misdeeds and didn't show any kind of empathy for anyone. I'm sure he did not just meet Frisk with this creepy face and made fun of what they lost, but he also did this with Sans at some point. Making fun of his losses, mocking him for his weakness and for not being able to save his brother. Flowey even mentioned that he has beein torturing others and although he might have been "possessed" during that time, it does not make the past go away. It happened. He has taken pride in his actions and Sans knows that.
Flowey needs to prove himself. Flowey needs to prove that he is honest and make others (especially Sans) see that he wants to change and that he has the strength to keep the path he has chosen. Yes, he saved his life. Today. What about tommorow? Maybe he makes another stupid life decision. He mentioned it even in this comic before, that he is making poor decisions, probably because of his yearning to feel anything. Sans and Flowey don't know each other well enough and there is a lot of hate and anger between them which can not be forgotten so easily. For Flowey to be accepted by Sans, he has to prove him every day for the rest of his life.
We're not talking about little crimes here, guys. We're talking about genocide. Not one genocide. Hundreds, thousands, millions. Okay, the last one is simply exaggerated, but maybe you know the Musical version of Undertale by "Man of the Internet", where Flowey says at one point: "Don't worry, it will only hurt the first million times", which made me think that Flowey has endured pain just as much as he experienced joy. After all, Flowey is a deep character.
I guess this comic gets deeper down with Sans and Flowey. ;D
Well, basically if Sans would already forgive Flowey (or Chara) it would be rushed and feel forced to me.

Okay, I'm gonna go a bit philosophical here, but... I get that it doesn't wipe the past, and it shouldn't! But. If you can't forgive, you can't change anything. If you keep holding grudges, you are going to lose everyone. And...that's not a good way of life. Show mercy, Sans. MERCY

Yay, we are the philosophical club! (Oh my god, I love these smileys)
Your friend's story shook me. I hope she or he is alright.
My story is more like my parent's divorce. I've seen what it can lead to if two people can't forgive each other (like Sans and Flowey), especially if someone else is stuck in the middle(Frisk). It only leads to heartache. With me, it's my dad who can't let go of grudges.
The other thing that taught me how important forgiveness is was my eye. You see, I have a prosthetic left eye. I was bullied a lot in fifth grade, especially by a girl named Kitti. We hated each other with passion! But...Over the next two years, we gradually became closer and have forgiven each other. Now, she is one of my closest friend, almost family. And we still think about how amazing it is that just a few years back we were enemies.
Anyway, I love your comic. Keep up the great work!

Heehee, I love them too!
She's okay ^^ I mean, she had a lot to deal with after, but she's doing okay ^^
I'm sorry to hear about the devorce I have so many friends whose souls have been hurt by similar circumstances. Grudges are the worst. Looking back at the few I had as a child, they seem so small and rediculous. I figured that once I was an adult having to deal with that would be over, in regard to others. Wrong. ^^ I found that adult grudges can be worse than kid's grudges. So i am very sorry to hear of the tension in that regard with your father. And that you were caught in the middle. I send you a huge hug!!!!
As for your eye, THAT'S SO COOL! I mean, I'm sure you don't have the greatest fondness for it yourself, due to being bullied, but it's really amazing! I really admire people who have prosthetic anythings. They hold a certain strength that I know I don't have. And I can see that in you as well, just by how you see the good it brought, like that enemy turned friend! I'm going to be thinking of you as Undyne now ^^ (in a fond kind way, I don't mean that in a teasing way). I have a friend with a glass eye, and a very famous actor, Peter Folk, he had a glass eye! He played a detective on a show called Columbo. ^^ www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxBnaM… So, I don't know, just wanted to encourage you in that. Because the world often looks at people that are different, and miss the story of the amazing person behind their differences. ^^
Thank you, and I will try my best! ^^

Aww, thank you so much! I appreciate the hug! Sending it right back at you!And meh, thing are getting better slowly but surely. Since my little sister has been born, they need to talk, because they need to plan since I have to visit them more often. So who knows? Things might turn up for the better. Hopefully.
As for my eye, yeah, it's pretty cool. Hehe. Makes it easy to dress up for Halloween. And YOU thinking of ME as UNDYNE?!?!? This is probably the biggest compliment I have ever gotten. And you are right. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by supportive people. And, as surprising as it may be, I'm glad I was bullied. it changed me for the better. I...used to be the bully. I was horrible. I knew when I had the right cards and when to play them.(Think of it as when I had a birthday party coming and I gave out the invites. Afterwards, no one could be mean to me, cause then I would take back the invitation. I was young. This was my best mean-idea. ) But being bullied taught me how often people feel alone and horrible about themselves. Since then, I turned into a protector of the hurt and the fallen. I'm usually on the bullied people's side. So in a way, I'm glad.
Good. I'm rooting for you!!

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope. I'm still firmly in camp Sans right now. One is not entitled to forgive and forget, because frankly it makes the feelings that consumed the hurt person seem invalid.
Flowey/Asriel is changing and good for him, but he still made a lot of mistakes. I'd be surprised if there wasn't always some underlying animosity in every future interaction between the two for the rest of their lives.

Sans. It's true that Asriel did some terrible things as Flowey. There is no disputing that. Thing is, that's the past. There is no need to be this way now. He's changed, can't you see that? You have every right to distrust him, but don't think of him as an enemy. He's not, not anymore. When he did those things you are thinking of now, he was an emotionless, guiltless flower, desperate for something new. Anything new. After enough cycles in a looping world, seeing the same people do the same things and react in the same way every time, you too would eventually lose yourself. Except Flowey didn't have a conscience to stop him from killing. Even with one, murder could be seen as a victimless crime with that power, because all it takes is a reset, and none of it happened. I'm not supporting what he did, simply explaining why he did it, so you can better understand him, and hopefully come to, if not trust him, at least understand that Asriel and Flowey are 2 different monsters in the same body.

Come on, Sans. Ease up on the poor guy. He just got done being possessed by some unknown force. That being said, I do not, in ANY way, condone Flowey's actions in the past... but that's just it. The past is the past. Flowey is a different... flower... now. You know what I mean. If he's changed, I see no reason why you can't move forward as allies. That doesn't mean you have to forgive him, or forget what he did. At least try to set the past aside for now. I'm sure you'll be much better off for it in the long run.
