Description Another redesign of an older Carrie Fernandez from Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness. Because, well, never been totally satisfied with my other stuff, and because I'll be damned if I let ~AlexPascenko have more Carrie related crap than me! Been a while since I did something this loose, and it was pretty damn fun~

Warning: Nerd rant incoming!

There's always been something that bugged me about all of alexpascenko's redesigns (Not that they aren't awesome on their own, mind you), and something that was missing in mine, and thinking about it, yeah what the hell, personality's totally not there. While that Alexdude might well be doing a full and total revamp of CV64, I still like characters to retain most of what makes them them, and I realized why his stuff seems off to me: Carrie, with the game's canon, would never be some sultry sorceress, or dress in anything that was remotely skimpy or fashionable: She is stated, flat out to hate adults after having two of her families murdered. And I certainly don't think she would embrace her feminine side as she grew older. She's out to hunt evil that would harm children, not grab the attention of men.

Also, comparing her backstory to her male counterpart, I've realized why I like her so much more, and why, even though she was a little kid, she seemed like a much better choice to hunt down Dracula. Carrie is born into a band Spanish immigrants that were traveling through Europe, the leader of which falls under Dracula's influence and pretty much everyone dies, including her parents. She manages to escape and gets adopted by a loving step mother. Who then dies to protect her from Dracula's invading minions. Carrie has lost her world twice to Dracula, and renounced God which is pretty big in a game universe where God factually exists. Reinhardt? He... gets picked on for not carrying the Belmont name... and then everything is okay because he gets chosen to carry the whip and becomes a man of God. It's basically his job to hunt Dracula. The hell do I care to play some guy who's doing his genetic duty when there's a pissed off little girl with magic out to double-avenge her families?

And their bad endings? Reinhardt's girl he just met doesnt come back to life, and he leaves with kid-morphed Dracula. Well, bad end cuz you just failed your mission, sure. But Carrie's? She gets tricked into agreeing to a "binding contract" to marry kid-morphed Dracula. Not only do you fail your mission, you just ruined her entire life. You just made her, after all he's done to her, the next bride of Dracula. CONGRATS ASSHOLE!

Okay. its 2am. Enough nerding out for now.

OMG I loved your rant! Though I thought that Reinhardt got picked on because his schoolmates couldnt believe that he was related to the Belmonts. Carrie is pretty badass though!

Well one or the other, the point remains either way . And I'm glad my hot air isn't completely waisted, thanks!

Great job with this piece. Doing things like adding the rough-sewn patchwork to the leggings helps to break up the lines and create interesting detail.

LOL good reason dude. And I love that game too, it wasn't perfect but it did feel like a Castlevania adventure. Great job.

I'm not really a huge Castlevania fan (mostly just played 64/LoD, SotN years later, and a few of the GBA games), but, I mean I was little, but the 64 games did actually creep me out. Hell, it's the only CV game that I'm aware of where you can actually get infected by a vampire and even bad-end by not curing it! Sure, these days I'd probably never worry about it due to not sucking at games, but as a kid, being vamped, losing my primary weapon, and suddenly be on a time limit to get a purify or game over was nerve wracking as all hell

and thanks!

... I remember her, and I agree with you fully; she's not the type to become a person who embraces femininity, unless something time-alteringly big happens, which in the Castlevania series, may or may not happen.

... Also, cool drawing is cool... Way to bring back the nostalgia.

Yeah, actually Castlevania 64 itself has gone in and out of the official timeline, so I guess if the game itself isn't entirely canon, it's timeline could be subject to change too

and thanks

... Yup, but then again, they may decide to create a related game to it, like a sequel or something; you never know nowadays... Just look at the Legend of Zelda series.

... And it's always a pleasure.

maaan, 3DS remake of CV64 would be sweet! But the game's bad rep probably will never see that happen~ ah well!

... Lol, I didn't think it was that bad; just a little challenging.
... A wiiU remake as well? Idk, might be awesome, might not.

Lmao! I totally agree with you. I don't think she'd try to look provocative but I do think she'd grow up to be pretty anyway. ^^ You have other drawings of Carrie?

Glad you agree And yeah, I have a couple of old pictures laying about here. Used to have a few more, but I've stored away most of my old really junky stuff that's not worth looking at anyway

Actually, I have a piece of Carrie pixel art over on Pixel Joint that I haven't bothered to upload here yet. Might do that sometime...

Nice! And the pixel art is cute. If you have more artwork of Carrie, then it's definitely worth looking at.

Aww. It makes me really really really wish that they'd bring her character back. Maybe in LoS. I just wish they acknowledged her more!!

They've certainly had sillier characters than a magical 12 year old girl fight Dracula, so yeah why the hell not?

Thanks! I'd gotten kind of obsessed with making each little line in a picture as perfect as I could make it lately, it felt good to just cut loose and just scribble 'til I was happy with it
