Leah's POV:

Leah still remembered the day that she received the news of her mother's passing. It was a normal day similar to many others, she had just returned from school and was waiting at home for her mom. Her mom's work usually took her the whole night and usually, when she got home from school she was sleeping in her room, but this time her mom's bed looked like it had not been slept with which she found slightly strange. Leah just thought that she had cleaned her bed and left to do something like buy groceries or talk with the neighbors. The hours kept tricking and she remember starting to feel nervous about her mom but she just kept waiting for her to arrive until she heard a heavy knock on the front door of her apartment. Leah thought that her mom had forgotten her keys once again like she had done in the past. Leah just went to open the door thinking about what they were going to eat since she was starving.

When she opened the door it wasn't her mom there but a stern-faced officer and a priestess from the church of the deity. She remembered the police guard saying that they found her mother dead in a hotel room, apparently one of her clients turned violent and proceeded to kill her. The officer proceeded to tell her that the man was apprehended and was waiting for formal charges to be given, but due to the evidence found at the scene, there was little doubt that he was guilty of the crime.

To Leah that did not matter she only remembered the first few words that the office said: her mother was dead. Her brain went to a halt at those words, she felt like the floor had turned into mud and she was being swallowed little by little by it. Then she felt a warm embrace, the priestess that was next to the officer was hugging her. She did not say anything, she did not reassure her that everything was going to be okay, she just hugged her. Then Leah felt as if a damn broke and tears started to pour out of her eyes in a never-ending stream while the priestess kept giving her a warm embrace.

This was her first meeting with Mother Leaf.
