Description whenever i'm walking in the woods and i look up ... i want to fly

as for the technicals of this image, i slowly rotated my focus tighter, just a little bit, to create the motion blur

great technique. i'm getting dizzy just looking at it. i've used the zoom on a long exposure before, but this is new to me.

never heard of it. if this image is there, it's been put there by a thief. thanks for the tip, i'll try to search for it there. do you happen to remember where it was by any chance or anything that may help me search for it?

thank you *so* much!! i browsed about 60 pages in the 'abtracts' and 'trees' collections and didn't see it. i hope it's not one of mine.

i looked under several keywords and wasn't able to find it. I checked my stock folder as well. I did find something that looked similar, though with just sky and clouds, but no trees. So I think maybe it just looks familiar because i've seen something like it and I've probably seen it on dA before. I will keep an eye out of course, just in case. I don't think you have anything to worry about, though.

false alarm ^.^

do you get the urge to fly up through the trees too?

I've been bragging about your picture to everyone...it is amazing. The concept for me is not of flying but of spinning; capturing the trees at a blur of colors. I just would have never thought to do it in picture or paint so It's like you opened my eyes to a whole new thing that I had previously overlooked. Thank you.

thank you for the kind words. i really enjoyed browsing your personal website. to save you the browsing time, here are two other pics that come to mind at the moment of this same technique: [link] and [link] . let me know if you have a go at taking a pic like this. i'd like to see it. cheers.

My interest would be more in trying to paint in this prospective; and yes, I will let you know if I ever do.

zero42 In reply to hbynoe [2005-10-29 19:05:27 +0000 UTC]

thank you - it was just a small twist on the focus ring. you get different effects when you zoom out or zoom in. this one was zooming in. the best way to see the difference in the effects you can get is to take a pic of a building with a streetlight beside it (one zooming in and another shot zooming out) with a long shutter speed. it's pretty handy and a very simple effect. i went from 16mm to 35mm in this one, but if you use less of a twist, you can do people and other larger, more defined objects better. you should try it sometime and put the concept in your pocket.
