I just read the entire story (though I have heard it before) and I gotta say that I love this pic. It goes perfectly (although may I suggest adding in the wife who escaped in one side with one of the beard ropes not yet wrapped around her? It would be sorta symbolic you know?)

This is beautiful. I've been thinking a lot about this story lately; I just saw Michael Powell's film of the opera, and I'm seeing the opera next week.

it is story about count (?) who had a blue beard) He was very rich, powerful etc) He had often married - because all his wifes often died. When he married, he gave to his wife bunch of keys - he had really big castle. but he said: "dont open one room with that little key!"
Of course, when he wasnt at home his wife went to that room, opened it ..... and saw his previous wifes, who were hanging there. she shuddered with horror and dropped keys. that little key falled in blood and became dirty. But it was magic key - blood spots never rubbed away.
And when count returned, he saw blood on key and laerned that wife saw that room. And, of course, she was punished - he hanged her too

alternately her brothers arrived just in time and killed Blue Beard. The woman then remarried and lived happily ever after in the Castle Blue Beard left.
