Description
This is my robotic crow, Magnum. (why I named him that I don't know..... It'd be like calling him Hearse.....)I think that day revolved around Magnums.... for some reason.
His control is run by a motor in his head that turns from side to side (and if vertical, he does the possesed-zombie-head-spin).
Very cool!
EDIT: Crows are Illegal to sell.... can only be gifted! I will only make them for good friends of mine and for gifts.

Cool work! I'm working on something similar myself. I was happy when I clicked on this because I once owned a Magpie (a type of crow) who I called Magnum!
The critter I'm working on is also taxidermied, however the face is fabricated.

Sadly I didnt have a videocamera at the time.
And my animatronic stuff was very hacked together. Basically I took remote controlled cars from the toy store apart and used their wheel motors to make the head turn.

Well, I cannot sell a crow, I can only give them away since it's illegal to buy/sell/trade crow parts. But I do have a mounted taxidermy crow. It's in a flying/soaring pose with all feathers outstretched. If you can talk me out of it, it's yours.

Oh my god. That is amazing. I was looking at taxidermy crows and I saw one a lot like that, I honestly love crows, they are my favorite bird, and second favorite animal (wolves are my first :3) Well, I'll see if my scanner is going to work for me, (i have a crappy scanner.) In the USA it's illegal to sell migratory birds... however, other countries have different rules. I know Canada is allowed to have Predatory birds, but in the USA, it's very illegal. If it was your pet and you have papers, then that makes it legal.
But for an animatronic bird, It'd be close to about $200-ish for the mechanics of just a neck turn. About $300 for jaw movement.

well i don't have one as a pet and even tho i have collected alot of dead ones before i bury them in all in my garden :/
But if i were to find another one; would i be able to preserve it so i could send it to you?

Its also illegal to kill them from everything I remember. Even having their feathers can get you in trouble. But that might just be Ravens and not all corvids.

That'd be Ravens. They are a major no-no for people in the US.
Now crows have a legal hunting season in most states, and you can aquire them through hunting or if you know a hunter who can give them away (Crows abide by the same law as wild ducks... legal to own, just illegal to buy, sell, or trade for.

I think so many of those rules are just absolutely rediculous. Specially because they don't apply if your "native." But thats a major pet peeve of mine is what defines a Native as a Native American. I personally think all of those who are born in America are "NATIVE AMERICANS" Anyway I will stop ranting to you about such things ><

That IS stupid.... I mean... birds molt every year.... some twice a year!
And I remember when I used to live near a golden eagle nest when I was little. And they told me I could go to jail for even holding a feather from them.... so that's why I never got into feather collecting....
But the government automatically thinks that if you have their feathers, you killed it. They die naturally.... ya'know.... through powerlines, cars, animal predators... some fall over dead from old age....

The issue is that they don't know if you killed the animal or not. There really is no way to prove you did not, so they just made it illegal all the way around.

no they can't, I still think its a bit rediculous. MOST people out there are looking to still respect the animal. Not kill them.

Fantastic! I've never seen anything like this before- moving taxidermy! It's a pity you couldn't upload a video or something to show it in action, as I'm sure that's much of the value of this piece- though it looks well done to me.

Gosh!!! I just don't know when I'll get the money for that... but you can bet this little baby here will come to Canada as soon as I can gather enough people to treat my crow-loving friend for Christmas!!!

He probably took about a week total to make. I had been given a crow by one of the guys in taxidermy school, and he wanted to see me to domething freaky to it (none of them knew what animatronics was). So I went to a couple hardware stores, Radioshacks, and stripped apart an old phone, and made the motor, chord, and control for it.
The crow itself was taxidermed by myself, with glass eyes for realism. Wired his wings to be folded down and preserved the skin.
So, overall a week in the making, maybe 12 consecutive hours (A lot of tweaking was required for the head to move)

I was in Robotics in High School, and passed onto the advanced class where I made remote controlled cars, cyborg crabs, robotic arms and stuff like that.
Before I got into taxidermy, I wanted to invent new robotronics.
But Taxidermy claimed my life! xD
Robot Chicken! Cyborg Crow! And soon to come! Machine Bunny!!!
I must catch robot chicken sometime.... I'm never around to watch it!
