The Leader of the US sanctioned Avengers Team or as they're known to many in the public, The Dark Avengers.

Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross has hated Bruce Banner from the moment that the scrawny scientist become a green goliath. Ross would spend much of his military career hunting down Bruce and vowing to destroy the Hulk. When the Avengers came together, the Hulk was off limits for targeting and this sent Ross into a rage where he would continue to plot to destroy Hulk. When Bruce was heavily injured and sent to the Avengers medbay, Ross sent in Ava Starr/Ghost to retrieve a blood sample from Bruce. Ava was successful in her mission and Ross sent the blood to secret scientists who would modify the sample to enhance it and make the sample about to make a Hulk of a different variety. When it was found out what Ross had planned, his superiors sent the Military Police to arrest him, unaware that Ross already injected himself with the modified blood that was dubbed "RED RAGE" and he was in the process of hulking out when the police bust down his door. Before them was a red giant with radiation coming off of him like flames. Ross maintained who he was and leapt away to go fight the Hulk. Ross would get his fight with Hulk and it seemed like their strength was evenly matched but Hulk would get stronger the longer the fight went on do to his rising anger, so Ross would turn to his gamma flames to help him in the fight. The Avengers would later come and aid their teammate against Ross and he was thoroughly defeated and imprisoned in the gamma prison known as the Cube. When asked why become a hulk if he hates the Hulk so much, Ross responded, you have to become a monster to defeat one.

Ross would stay in the Cube for 3 years until news came out of the Avengers disappearing or possibly even being dead and supervillains were coming out of the woodwork to do what they want with earth's mightiest heroes not around to stop them. Ross was given a video call directly The President, who had a plan to combat the rising number of supervillains by having the US build their own team and he offered Ross a pardon if he would accept and lead the team. Ross thought his fighting days were over, but whether it was his sense of duty or because this was a way to one up Bruce, Ross accepted the deal. Ross' Avenger team was made up of personal choices like Ava Starr, John Walker, and Benjamin Poindexter, but he also had choices made for teammates like Mason Banks, Darren Cross, Mac Gargan, Elektra Natchios, and a surprise recruit being a literal god of war, Ares. Ross had his team and he would bring justice to world even if he had to smash his enemies to a pulp.

Things seemed to be going well with The US Avengers until news started coming out of a team of young heroes also going by the name of the Avengers and they were getting close to unveiling plans the team of villainous heroes had in store for the world, so these young heroes would have to be eliminated.
