With August and Violetta gone, Veronica started to get angry and demand from Willem that he get them out of this nightmare, but Willem could only suggest the path that they were on. Angry at that answer, Veronica stormed off into a dangerous path towards Tierra Dorada, Land of the Golden Geese. Willem and the remaining children chased after her and found her fighting off Golden Chocolate Geese and Nut Chocolate Squirrels. For a little girl, she was surprisingly strong against all the candy animals and was smashing everything in her sight. While in this rampage she failed to notice that the squirrels were tying her legs together with red vines. Veronica fell and the rest of her was tied up. Some squirrels ran to retrieve a certain item and when they arrived back at the tied Veronica, they forced her to eat a candy as red hot as her fiery temper (HOT TAMALES) and a change started to occur. Veronica was losing her human features and her body was turning into a gummy person and then she burst into flames. She ran around panicked until the geese started pushing her into a nearby garbage chute and down she went into the darkness.

Contessa retrieved Veronica from the garbage and tore her flaming heart right out of her chest for a dark purpose.
