Another quick portrait from a studio session.This is Bob again (from a few paintings in the past) - he's great - this is about the third or fourth time I've sketched him (he's a regular model at Cornish).

This is fantastic. Line is honestly where you really soar. There's so much personality in the markmaking, and I love these sort of ghostly form that comes out. I feel like there's really a person there, but it stays ephemeral because of the delicacy of each individual line. I love it. I love the creepy blank eyes and the areas of shading. This is one of my favorites of your work.

A lot of the time I'm concerned with leaving too much out - or including too much extraneous line. Finding that balance, of only drawing that which is necessary, is something I've been working on for the past few years. I think I still have a ways to go, but it's good to know that it's starting to pay off.
