- He can get so obsessed with his research that he becomes a somewhat chaotic mess, literally and figuratively. He'll walk out of a poorly lit room that looks like it belongs to a conspiracy theorist looking like he hasn't showered in days--which might be true.
- Talks to much and can get a little pushy (not intentionally to be rude/invasive) about asking for more information/more to the story.
- Willing to do somewhat morally gray things to get information.
- A recent development is that Az is a hopeless romantic that gets infatuated easily, especially after hearing them tell their story

» History:

Azure's father was a shipyard laborer at Stern's (although he eventually was promoted to a supervisor role) and his mother was a copywriter. His mother was sick for as long as he could remember and eventually passed while he was still a child, and so he was raised primarily by his father...alongside the whole shipyard of workers who looked after him in their breaks. They often told Az stories about their lives, the wonderful and the tragic. Once he started learning how to write, he brought a notebook with him and what began as practice with his letters became a passion for recording stories.

When he was old enough Az was encouraged to embark on a journey with his companion pokemon, a wartortle runt named Sendil. He happily agreed, eager to explore the regions, notebook at the ready. Az faced a lot of unexpected challenges on his journay and had to come to terms with aspects of his identity he hadn't been able to, or willing to, explore until then. It took him a while to pin down the source of this new uncertaintity; until then he tried for badges and entered contests, and even participated in a large tournament on a faraway island. He slowly began his journalism career based on writing he did while participating/spectating and did an investigative report on tournaments and their links to large scale disasters/danger.

He didn't return home for quite a few years, until he got an alarming letter about his father being injured at the shipyard. While he hadn't been ready to return home, his father was the most important person to him and his only family so he rushed back to Hoenn to care for him. Fortunately, his father made a full recovery, although it took months, and he never did return to the shipyard, instead opting for retirement and volunteer work in the local naval museum. He wasn't sure how he expected his father to react to the changes; he wasn't afraid but still anxious. In the end all he got was a comment on how he was "still going strong with the blue hair" and that was that.

Az decided to work on his new investigative report and some freelance writing on the side while taking care of his father in Hoenn. Festival Plaza offered an opportunity to "travel" while still remaining close.

Sendil (Sen) | Wartortle [COMPANION]

Sendil never quite grew to be as big as the common Squirtle and remained small when he evolved into Wartortle (which took especially long due to his small size putting him at a disadvantage battling-- lots of small pokemon and rare candies were involved). Despite this he has always been an enthusiastic and feisty companion. He is the only one on the team that has known Az since childhood as he was given to young Az as an egg (which makes him much older than his size would indicate).

Doppel | Ditto

Doppel is...strange. They love to fit themself into different shapped containers and prefer them to pokeballs. Their current favorite is a mason jar but it changes regularly. They will use Transform without warning and are not opposed to taking a human shape. Will turn into Az's notebook/pen to mess with him.

Puck | Reuniculus

Puck is full of nervous energy that manifests itself as mischeviousness. He loves pranks and surprises. He and Doppel are a force to be reckoned with.

Wraith | Frillish

Due to their tattered and worn body, Wraith appears rather spooky, but he is actually very timid and more likely to be the frightened one. He seems closed off and looks lost; he doesn't interact much with the rest of the team. He was the source of a rumored haunted shipyard Az investigated. Always seems to be looking for something (someone?).

Calpurnia | Gastrodon

She can be lazy and sleeps a lot, but when she is active she is very gentle and protective of Az and the team. Calpurnia was Az's mother's pokemon.

Rue | Wooper

Usually a precious cinnamon roll who likes bubbles and making people and pokemon smile. She gets attached to others easily and has wandered off following strangers more than once. Can transform into a huge brat and have stomping tantrums seemingly on a dime if she doesn't get something she wants and it takes Azure or Calpurnia to settle her down.
