Description As the draugr king approached the main west gate of Atlantis, a group of the Morrigan's gargoyles descended upon Atlantis causing hysteria in the streets below. With them they brought the slain soldiers who once guarded one of the nearby small island outposts. If the Atlanteans dismissed the draugr king's message, they certainly understood the gargoyle chieftain's. An act of war cannot be ignored.

This wasn't the scene I had in mind, but after fighting very sluggish viewport lag and my own creative limitations, I settled for something a little sparse and rendered, rendered, re-rendered, trashed and started over, and well, you get the point. I wanted a full on fighting with the streets below as the background, but damn, Daz Studio just didn't like it. Too much geometry I guess.

All items used are from the Daz store. Gargoyle is RawArt's Gargoyle HD for Genesis 2 Male with Bad Kitteh's Vinnuth Kriegor armor set. Rooftops are from Ansiko's Medina set. Dead soldier is wearing Luthbel's Wildenlander HD for G2M. And you can't go wrong with Sedor's Iray Skies. I love how they light a scene.

Despite the frustrations and limitations of Daz Studio, this turned into a stellar piece!

What an epic scene! You managed to capture the chaos and panic. You can hear the screams of the towns people. Great work , Glen!

Thank you so much,Β BjΓΆrn. I'd be heading to some secure cellar or dungeon if I saw these guys flying in.

Hey man, thanks. The wings are the Succubus wings for Daz's Genesis 2 line:Β www.daz3d.com/succubus-add-ons

It says Genesis 2 Female, but work on the guys as well. RawArt supplies gargoyle texture maps for the wings.

Outstanding scene as always, Glen!!

I can imagine the despair of the people running through the streets after seeing these monsters flying in the sky and the horrible sight of the dead soldiers in their claws or their mutilated bodies being thrown in the middle of the city.

Have you tried rendering a group of characters in the scene, then save that group as obj and delete the original group then replacing with their obj version? And then focus on another part of the scene? This is a method I use most of the time when i do these crowd scenes.

Thanks you much, Juliana. Your description of the panicked citizens and such is what I was trying for. But there was just too much in the scene. There's no way Daz could do all that and I guess my ambitions were just too high. I've done the OBJ stuff before, but it wasn't so much the gargoyles I had issues with it was the streets and the people filling those streets. I think this has more of a gargoyle feel anyway. Hanging around the rooftops like gargoyles just seemed more fitting.

Yes, i agree.

And often, as in writing as well, it's nice not to show everything and leave room for the imagination of who is viewing the scene or reading the story (I have to always remember that!).

I talked about replacing with objs, because I didn't know if you had already tried it and this method helps a lot in certain scenes. ^^

This is ART with capitals! What a very impressive and heroic scene, Glen! I really like those colors and the diagonal composition. Is this the scene you had anger issues with?

You're very kind, Rudy. Thank you. Yes, this was the one I was battling. I feel somewhat disconnected from Daz at the moment, I think in part to the fact I grew frustrated with the original version of this. I haven't worked in Daz since I uploaded this, but work schedule has been pulling me away from fun time as well. Glad I have a 4 day weekend coming up.

Like those have said below - awesome piece! Ferocious and powerful chieftain shown by the great camera angle. Β

I can sort of 'see' the scene you described which you wanted.. but I guess that's one of those times you decide, do I end up throwing my computer through the window and regretting it afterward, or do I do this which in actual fact probably conveys a similar result? (But I hate it too when you're limited by software/hardware)Β Β
