Work in progress on a staff for my Red Death inspired Labyrinth ball costume. I'm doing a version of a "Lady Red Death" for time/ deadline.Any opinions on what color it should be in the end? The matr black is just to coat it.

I think painting it to make it look like the core of the staff is made of tar or something black, then the outside would be bone-colored. Perhaps some blood dripping from the transition of the two colors?

umm, i think that a deep blood red would greatly enhance the features of the screaming faces.....

I think a sort of aged ivory would look great, like a mammoth tusk sort of look (if that makes sense). Lighter where it would have been carved or worn down, and darker where the outer surface remains.

This is so good! I actually like how it looks now. Maybe some white in the eyes, but that's about it. It's definitely spooky and the detail is great. You are so talented!

That is just beautifully creepy! So cool. And actally, the way you've got it painted now looks sort of like wheathered metal, which I think is cool. Although, bone-colored, like folks have said, would be awesome, too, I'm sure.
