The Tassel Dragon

This is an original species designed by me. For the purpose of the contest here are the rules/information about the dragons to help propel your creativity as i designed this species to be very open and people friendly.

This dragon can be on any part of the alignment spectrum:

Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Neutral, Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, Chaotic Evil

This species are not loners by nature, they are inclined to be in a troupe of 5 or more dragons. They may not necessarily be in a group of solely dragons or their own kind. They can easily be found hanging around people societies. Think of it as Dinotopia except the Dragons are citizens in their own right.

Male versus Female

Males are a bit bulkier than females and proportionately speaking just all around bigger than females. They are roughly 30% bigger than their female counter part. Unlike the female, they posses whiskers/facial hair. They wear their facial hair in anyway they see fit. This could include but not limited to braids, mutton chops or dye their whiskers. They have a double rack, so they appear to have two sets of horns. Its hard for a Tassel male to be naturally born as a "pretty boy" due to their hormones.

Females are a bit daintier looking all around. These are not hard fast rules as there are many who are female but have a more of a masculine appearance. Females posses a single rack (just two horns) and they have no whiskers (or any form of facial hair)

Both species posses a bone ridge that follows along their jaw line.

Eye colors: Silver, Copper, Gold pupils. The "whites of their eyes" are black

Body color (excluding the tails and whiskers) Base colors start as Royal red, purple, blue, green, and black.

These are the colors they are born with. As they age, they mature with the skill of being able to morph their colors/body patterns. Since this is a very long process that can takes years and generations, its actually very easy to age a Tassel based upon the complexity of their body pattern. Body patterns reflect the dragons personality and interests and where they originate from. If they were from a society from India, chances are they are going to reflect a very vibrant Indian inspired body pattern. If they came from a more modern time, they may have a more contemporary look for example, one could sport a body pattern that has a strong graffiti feel.

Feral looking body patterns represent the more rouge of the Tassels, or more "wild" that do not co-exist with human civilizations. Doesn't actually mean they're evil, though some could be evil. But at the same token, there can be evil Tassels with non feral body markings. It swings both ways.

The swirl motif is very distinguishable and every Tassel has it. Its just more bone plating.

How big are they??? heres a size comparason: [link]

Q and A

Do they have magic?
-Yes, they have magic. All Tassels are born with magic and it matures as they mature. If they choose to pursue magic and become a wizard, their magic will be more stronger than a Tassel who did not study and exercise for that.

Do they have jobs?
-Yes, they're not just animals roaming around with no discipline. They will have a skill that they develop. It could be Necromancy, medicine, being a warrior etc.

Do they wear clothing?
- Yes, they can wear clothing. They are able to make their own clothes but more inclined to decorating their tails and facial hair with decorative beads and hair styles

Are they pets?
- No, they are just another race.

Does it make sense to have raised a Tassel from an egg?
- Yes, though due to their longevity, a Tassel may be in your family for a few generations.

Do they have their own society?
-Yes, they do. They're not an exclusive race of dragon, so it would be realistic for a human to live within one of their cities. Though due to how they build their cities, it may be necessary for a human to have their own set of wings or a Tassel partner to help them get around town.

Plenty of time? What came to mind is rather complex (and moreso if I add the fifth element) and you know how long it took me to finish Tango.

I'm going to have to use some pose refs on this.

A link to get a redline ? God knows I'll need that.

I'm working on my first commission right now and it gets priority but I'll work on the sketch as I can. Probably start right now.
