UrRu counterpart: UrSkit
Urskek name: Setskit
Weapons of choice: throwing knives, cutlass, acrobatics
Sex: hermaphrodite (goes by he/him pronouns)
Age: much younger than the other Skeksis
Occupation: Former Messenger and Herald of the skeksis. Outcast, vagabond sailor and entertainer

Skills: Acrobatics, circus related performances like knife throwing and juggling, balancing acts. Travelling very fast on foot. Communicating and connecting with the people. Sailing (taught by the Sifan
Peeves: Being treated like he's not important, getting picked on by the other skeksis
Habits: Balancing forks, spoons and dinner knives and his fingertips when waiting for meals. Running his fingers through the feathers on his neck when unable to say anything
Trivia: He and SkekLi the satirist are close friends and the Satirist taught him the joys of entertainment and on their down time the two of them will sometimes sing or perform together. SkekSet was the one who invented knife juggling on Thra and did this to perform in front of the Gelfling as entertainment and to show the Gelfling how special the Skeksis are and to boost his own confidence.
Likes: knife throwing and juggling, singing, acrobatics, exploring Thra and the oceans, SkekSa the Mariner, the Gelfling, Skekli the Satirist
Dislikes: Those who don't appreciate his hard work, the draining of Gelfling even though he too longs to live forever and he's very conflicted on how to feel about it, the pressures of representing his race, not being praised.
Dreams: To be free and do as he pleases, To do what he enjoys doing and not what someone tells him to be.
Secrets: He discreetly gives the Gelfling in the castle hints of what the other skeksis are doing to gelfling and has silently tried to urge them to escape while they can.
Fears: The Gelfling being wiped out, his Gelfling bodyguard and podling servant coming to harm, what the Emperor and other skeksis would do to him if they found out what he was doing
Personality: SkekSet is an oddity among his kind in he much kinder to the people of Thra and treats them with respect for without them the Skeksis wouldnt have much of a kingdom to rule. In the beginning when the Makraks were attacking the populace after being driven above ground SkekSet made it his duty to travel between Gelfling and podling settlements and relay information to the Emperor on the attacks and was key to forming an alliance with the Gelfling race. Because of his frequent travels to visit each race he picked up on the language of the Pod people and Gelfling alike. Because of his language and communication skills, his quickness of mind and one of the fastest of the skeksis, the Emperor gave him the title of 'the messenger' which suited him just fine for he loved to travel and meet the inhabitants and often when he arrived to villages the Gelfling would create feasts and entertainment just for him.
He does however have unfavorable traits because he is the dark half of his Urru counterpart. He is a sly trickster who uses deceit to take the blame off of himself and place it onto the other skeksis. He does not really know how to comfort someone when they are sad and will say things that do more harm than good and come off as callous and rude. He gets jealous and possessive when he thinks someone is trying to steal his Gelfling bodyguard or podling servant and will physically pull them away from that person. Even when he is banished from the castle and his bodyguard is just casually talking with another gelfling he gets jealous. He has been vindictive towards other skeksis that wronged him or got him into trouble and has known to pull really cruel jokes on them. He was treated as an outcast even before he ran away into exile and was on the low bar of the skeksis ladder hierarchy with many treating him like they treat podlings and he hated it. When the other Skeksis drained the Gelfling Mira he was horrified and tried to subtly hint at the gelfling in the castle to run away as far as possible to escape that fate but feared what would happen to him if he told outright told the Gelfling what the skeksis had planned. He seeks praise and approval from those around him as to boost his own pride and loves the spotlight.
He does become very solemn when remembering his past as an Urskek and how he was treated by his fellow skeksis after the division. When his Gelfling and podling companions were taken and killed during a Garthim attack lead by SkekUng and SkekZok he fell into a deep depression that he hadn't felt since the beginning and lived a lonely solitary life in the swamps of Sog. SkekSet lived there for many trine, grieving that he couldnt save any of the Gelfling and found no comfort in his tricks and games. He found comfort and belonging once again when the crystal is restored and the gelfling population has regrown though many were terrified when he made his existence known and lived in the castle of the crystal once again when Jen and Kira became king and queen, though many were highly suspicious of him and some have even tried to attack him and he just brushes it off.
Backstory:
When the Skeksis started draining the gelfling guards for essence SkekSet hid his podling servant Kel and female Sifan Gelfling bodyguard Aria under his robes to escort them out of the castle to safety and went to return to the skeksis dining hall, where he overheard the Chamberlain and other skeksis talking about SkekSet and how the need for a messenger would be pointless for their intentions to drain all Gelfling and negotiations or messages to the clans were no longer necessary. To SkekSet, they had implied that they no longer needed him and were planning to off him, much to his horror and he silently fled the castle. It wasn't until later that everyone realized he was missing and his bodyguard and servant were no where to be seen.
SkekSo summoned the Hunter to track him down and return him to the castle so he may be 'dealt' with. While in the DarkWood he met up with Kel and Aria who told him stories about Jarra-Jen meeting the Hunter and was in the middle of her story when SkekSet's hand was pinned to a tree by a throwing knife belonging to the Hunter, whom attempted to kill the podling and Gelfling first before retrieving SkekSet.
SkekSet managed to free himself and knock SkekMal aside then picked up his two companions and ran. As the three were escaping through the forest Aria told him how Jarra-jen escaped the Hunter by jumping off a cliff into the river, and SkekSet found a similar cliff and jumped off with the two others still in his arms, he was shot in the shoulder by one of the Hunters arrows but managed to escape in the river down below.
The trio escaped down the river to the Ha'rar coast where they bought a ship and sailed to Cera-Na and lived among the Sifan. Though they were extremely weary of the new strange skeksis among them they began to accept the strangers among their ranks as a strong and imposing ally who learned how to sail like the Sifan and he started doing the things he enjoyed, knife throwing and juggling and acrobatics to entertain the sailors. He had met SkekSa the Mariner and she warily welcomed him among the Sifa. He told her of their situation to which SkekSa told them how she caught word of how SkekSet was branded the 'Outcast' and was to be brought in to the Emperor for treason. But after she explained that she planned to leave with the Sifan somewhere the other skeksis couldn't find them she invited him and his companions to go with her. It wasn't to be as the fires of resistance were lit among the Sifa who decided to help and fight against the Skeksis and SkekSet couldn't find the Mariner ever since.
As years went by and more gelfling were captured by the Garthim and skeksis a massive attack came to Cera-Na and attacked, destroying it and SkekSet barely survived with his two companions and a handful of Gelfling who made it to land. With all their ships destroyed they were trapped on land and they planned to make it to the swamp of Sog but the Garthim had found them, lead by both SkekUng and SkekZok. SkekSet tried to save them all but Aria was killed while fighting the Ritual master and Kel was captured.
In a rage SkekSet fought SkekUng but did not see SkekZok in time who had snuck up and stabbed him in the back with his dagger and was then run through the gut by SkekUng's sword and was thrown into the river, SkekUng and SkekZok presumed he was dead and later returned to the castle with many prisoners and news of SkekSet's death.
SkekSet would've died had he not have been saved by an elderly Gelfling of the Sifan hiding in Sog who used her Vliya to heal him. SkekSet lived in that swamp for the next twenty trine. When the elder died he lived the rest of his days in a constant state of depression and grief at the loss of those he could not save. He was alone on his deathbed when Jen's journey began but unlike the other skeksis and Urru, he and his counterpart did not become one when the crystal was restored for neither had the strength to get up and leave where they lay. He and his other half were restored in both spirit and body, their youth restored. When the Gelfling started to return he decided to make his existence known and to reach out and help the Gelflings as a friend. Seeing that he meant no harm to the Gelfling he was welcomed by Jen into the castle with his UrRu half who emerged from isolation. The both lived at the castle of the crystal for years as a keeper of all of the skeksis relics and belongings including the Emperor's scepter, though his presence was met with much scrutiny by other Gelfling.
Relationship with other skeksis
Emperor SkekSo: He once held Skekso with great admiration and respect unlike SkekNa and SkekShod and would was eager to leave the castle when SkekSo had a message he needed to deliver. He was content with life as it was, he got to travel, meet new people and eat at great feasts just for him. That all changed when essence was discovered and was horrified by SkekSo's rapid change in behavior and cruelty and wanted no part in it. All respect and loyalty he held for the emperor was thrown out the window. When he heard of SkekSet's suppossed 'death' he only felt pity that he couldn't of dealt with him himself.
SkekOk the scrollkeeper: SkekOk views SkekSet as 'immature' and too hyper and a skeksis who wont and cant sit still in spot for any length of time, he does admire his enthusiasm to his job but wishes he would calm down. He gets annoyed at SkekSet's parlor tricks and his annoying habit of stealing a single pair of his glasses just to be an irritation.
Skeksil the chamberlain: SkekSil is very amused by SkekSet's near boundless energy and youthfulness, but is very aware of how devious and sly SkekSet can be and he is always on the lookout for possible secrets and lies SkekSet might be hiding. Because of SkekSet's low rank among the skeksis the Chamberlain often looked down upon the messenger and mocked him on occassion in front of the other skeksis, mostly at dinner or just when he returns from his travels to report to the Emperor. He became very cautious when trying to trip up SkekSet when he tried to frame the messenger for reforging the Emperor's letter to the Spriton Maudra and even though SkekSet never did such a thing, and using his wits managed to prove that the Chamberlain was the one who was guilty, and SkekSil never forgot about that and silently plotted his revenge. He knew of SkekSet's unusual fondness for Gelflings and Podlings and used this information against him by informing the Emperor that messengers would be pointless when there were no more Gelfling to send messages to. This was his attempt to have SkekSet banished or executed but because SkekSet eavesdropped on the conversationhe made his escape and lived among the Sifan for years. Much to the Chamberlains shock. When SkekUng and SkekZok returned to the castle with prisoners and brought the news to the court that SkekSet was dead, Skeksil was surprised but very pleased nonetheless.
Skektek the scientist: The two don't interact with each other much other than SkekSet and SkekTek hold low opinions of one another. SkekSet hated being in SkekTek's lab.
SkekVar the general: SkekVar and SkekSet often traveled together when Skekvar was known as the ''Ambassador'' and SkekSet admired and respected the large and gruff General and would have casual conversation when off duty. During the Arathim wars SkekVar went with SkekSet as an escort to a nearby village to learn more about the arathim attacks. When traveling through the woods the group were attacked by the arathim in which one clawed SkekSet's face with one of its forelegs and the resulting blood temporary blinded SkekSet, rendering him defenseless. He was saved by SkekVar and escorted to the castle for treatment and the blood had to be flushed from around his eyes from it drying and getting stuck. He has a permanent deep scar across the top of his snout since the event. SkekVar was shocked when SkekSet fled the castle and requested the Emperor to send him after the messenger to which skekso disagreed and sent the Hunter instead. SkekVar and SkekSet never knew of each others fate since then.
SkekUng the Garthim Master: SkekUng did not care about SkekSet at all, even before he was branded Outcast, only that he was a traitor which he intended to either capture and bring forth to the emperor or kill the former messenger the moment he saw him. He viewed SkekSet as weak and underestimated SkekSet's fighting prowess and swift movements with a blade. The last time they met was when SkekUng and Skekzok were leading a Garthim raid on Cera-Na and the pursuit of the fleeing Sifan members where the diminutive SkekSet stood between the injured and scared Gelfling survivors and the Garthim master who for once admired his bravery but became very cautious when SkekSet did not show signs of fear. The two Skeksis fought and SkekSet landed a few blows to SkekUng who was forced to go on the defensive because of the 'Outcasts' swift movements. SkekZok saw this and took inititave and stabbed SkekSet in the back while he was distracted. SkekUng took the opportunity and ran the other skeksis through with his sword. He boasted over capturing his Gelfling and podling friends before throwing him into the black river to drown. SkekUng was proud to announce that he had captured many Gelfling and had been the one to silence SkekSet once and for all, much to the annoyance of the Ritual master. Unknown to SkekUng and the other skeksis, SkekSet survived his gruesome injuries.
SkekNa the slave master: They almost never interact but SkekNa was pleased that SkekSet was dead.
Skekli the satirist: They were very close almost like best friends, they joked, gossiped, and made poetry together and understood each other very well as they were both looked down upon by their peers. SkekLi was the more vicious of the duo. After SkekSet abandoned the castle and the other skeksis, SkekLi was both hurt and offended by this and he searched for SkekSet and they argued about the draining of Gelfling and their differing views of it and how SkekLi wanted to prove he was more than a clown for the other skeksis to laugh at if he found and captured Gelfling for the Emperor. They both agreed that they were too different and cut their friendship off. It is unknown what happened to SkekLi since then (but if he heard about SkekSet's suppossed death, he would be emotionally distraught and bitter)
SkekEkt the ornamentalist: Not much interaction
SkekAyuk the gourmand: Not much interaction
Skekmal the hunter: SkekSet is absolutely terrified of the Hunter much like the other skeksis and was very tense and nervous traversing through the Darkwood. Even Aria's story of how the Gelfling hero Jarra-Jen was the only one who escaped the Hunter, wut it didnt really comfort him knowing that information. When being hunted by SkekMal, the Hunter commented on SkekSet's speed and agility made him exciting prey, much to SkekSet's dismay. He was extremely frustrated when SkekSet and his two companions jumped off a ravine into the black river and escaped him and had difficulty tracking them down, even with SkekSet's wounds. After the Hunters death SkekSet was always felt uneasy when passing through the Darkwoods and felt like the Hunter was still lurking in there even after he knew he was long dead.
Skeksa the mariner: He met her on the floating island of Cera-Na when she heard rumors of another skeksis taking refuge there. When he and his Gelfling and Podling companions told her their story she had thoughts of taking them prisoner and handing them over to the Emperor but deciding that she had no care for the other skeksis and only respecting SkekSet for his charm and love of traveling (inluding a desire to traverse the seas) she decided to give them the choice to go with her and the Sifan clan away from Skarith to someplace safe. Which they agreed until the Sifan fires of resistance were lit and the Sifan decided to help fight the skeksis. They hadn't seen nor heard from SkekSa since she boarded her living ship Vessa.
Skeklach the collector: Not much interaction between these two other than sarcastic remarks and insults
Skekshod the treasurer: Oddly these two got along fairly well, they both sit next to each other during meals and they will talk (its mostly one sided conversations as SkekSet does the talking) During gathering or meetings they would often stand beside each other and share small talk and whisper to one another. It is often common to see them walking down the hallway together or exchanging coins placing bets when a squabble between any of the other court members. When SkekSet is presumed dead, SkekShod is the first one to take anything of value and hide it in his pockets before any of the others to see.
SkekZok the ritual master: SkekZok treated the Messenger with disdain and was easily annoyed by SkekSet's eccentric behavior. He stated his thoughts on what SkekSet's role should be if the skeksis drained all the gelfling and a messenger would be no longer be needed now that they are openly draining the Gelfling. Believing that the Skeksis should be given a new role and title befitting to the current situation. This was thrown out the window when it was discovered that SkekSet and his companions fled the castle and felt that the traitor should be captured and punished to the full extent of their law. When SkekZok's crystal bats found SkekSet among the Gelfling he informed the Emperor and the two set out to deal with the situation and capture the gelfling and the traitor if possible. During SkekUng and SkekSet's battle he noted the Garthim master's struggling and becoming weaker. Weighing his options in knowing that if the Garthim master fails to put a stop to SkekSet then he would set the Gelfling free and attack him, so he took initiative and stabbed SkekSet in the back with his ceremonial dagger while he was distracted, giving SkekUng the change to run the traitor through and throw him in the river to drown. When they returned to the castle and SkekUng boasted his victory over capturing the gelfling and killing SkekSet (not mentioning the Ritual master's aid at all). SkekZok was very displeased with not being given any credit. He did feel some pity over SkekSet's death, believing it was such a waste of a potential pawn.
wounds/scars: He has a scar on both sides of his left hand from SkekMal's throwing knife that had pinned him to a tree, it healed but the nerves in his hands haven't been the same since, making knife juggling quite difficult. He still has a scar in his shoulder from SkekMal's arrow, the stab wounds in his abdomen and back from SkekUng and SkekZok
