That's the trouble when you can't see the original drawing, but have to look at some kind of smaller digital copy on the internet. The exiting tell-tales that it IS a drawing are lost. Anyway, thanks and glad you like it! Thanks for the fave as well!

Thanks!
Aside from having worked myself up to being more than usually precise on the eyes, the effect of the whole is due to layering: the shadows and shading weren't all done in one shot, but made progressively deeper by starting light and going over and over it with different grades of pencil; softer harder, softer, harder.

Thanks again! I'm glad you like it: I spent longer on this one than any of the others.

Thanks very much!
I think her eyes are so deep and beautiful that I really spent much more time than usual on them and the shading is many layers. It's all fine lines, done with the tip of a sharp pencil. (That's apparent if you look up close at the original, but it gets wiped out in digital reproduction. I'm working toward getting a better camera with a good lens that can be manually focused and fitted with a polarizing filter which may make for better pics of graphite drawings.)

Yeah, she's exceptionally lovely and seems brimming with warm interest in anyone she talks to, which is why I wanted to draw her.
Thanks for your very nice words!

I think I know what you mean: it's a straightforward portrait the point of which is simply to represent the subject. I'm glad you think it ultimately works. Thanks for the fav!

Thanks, vis. The rework I did since I first posted it involved smoothing out the transitions from one area to the next, so I'm glad it reads that way.

Thank you. I revisited the shading over and over in many sessions trying to get all the values right relative to each other.
