I don't like the new one.
But I like yours.
The problem with everything Star Trek that was released after the original show is that they either ridicule established facts, ignore them, or rewrite them until they say something completely different.
And with your model and animation, I can imagine it looking like the effect from the original show, from a long distance.
And let's face it.
That's something that was better in TOS than any other Trek. Somebody reports "Range: 2000 kilometers." and we see a light that's probably the propulsion system. You don't see that much at that distance, so the "cheesy" effect is perfectly acceptable.

Well, the Orions can always use more than one class of ship. We have the Pirate ship from "Pirates of Orion" and now we have the Raider. Good job.

Thank you! I always imagined that the Orion (pirates at least) fleet would be a collection of completely different ships, that way they couldn't be identified on first sight.
Actually, I took part of the design from the Star Fleet Battles Orion Raider, which was supposed to be the ship seen in "Babel".
