Description Art-trade, for Logos. Happy reawakening! ^^ Keep shining forward and don't look back.

---

The central figure ... I'm toying with the idea of making her an original character. A possible development of Houkou Narakubana, from [link] perhaps, but now infused with other characters - all of them being those that I associate with Logos most. Behind her is some strange take of mine on Koishi - Skullishi? - released to wreak havoc after the girl opens her sealed third eye. Some fun adventures are in store now, no?

CHIREIDEN COLOURS FTW. >83 Anyone else thinks this really looks like a jewel-case cover to something?

Probably the most detailed, and slightly over-ambitious, 'medium' piece I've done to date, with increased realism and ridiculous abuse of magical-effects as usual. >< Hope you all likey!

Wow, hello old comment which I never replied to ...

Yes it's Alice. The girl in the midground is an amalgamation of the requester's avatars, as imagined by me. So there's ... Renko's hair / Marisa's braid, Mima's skirt frills, Alice's hairband, Okuu's cape ... and of course a lot of Koishi. ^^

Noticed the Alice and Koishi "parts" somehow missed the others ย

So this is why Koishi sealed her third eye.

Or arguably, the sealing and slow build-up of locked powers could've manifested the demon-like Skull Koishi instead. Might never have happened if left her third eye free? Oh, the possibilities. =3

We are all doomed now. O_O That totally looks like Sauron's eye but it's slightly creepier here. O HAI THAR SKULLISHI :D
I love all the background details and textures. That must have taken forever on bazillion layers!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Zucreelo In reply to Maarika [2011-10-06 12:17:39 +0000 UTC]

Far less layers than normal actually ... you'd be surprised how lax I am about layering once I've started this 'painterly' approach. With colouring lineart as I used to see it, there's a new layer for EVERYTHING. Like, ten layers for Cirno's Hair in Broken Moon. I guess I really rebelled against that here. Just wanted to slap paint on without fear, and see how it turns out, y'know? ^^"

Thanks ever so much for the complement. I think I love doing stupid backgrounds full of colour-splashes to hide the fact that I can't draw fully-fledged scenes very easily. ='3 And yes, Sauron's Eye totally inspired this rendition - glad you picked that up!

Maarika In reply to Zucreelo [2011-10-21 21:38:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh my, that's a lot of layers. I only ever work with two or three at a time. O: I get easily disoriented between all those layers, so I just stick to a handful of them. It's actually an old habit which started when I first began doing digital colouring and my computer was really slow, so I couldn't have many layers even if I wanted to.

My interpretation of this: the central figure is some kind of Saruman-like evil wizard who has forcefully opened Koishi's third eye and released all the insanity that's been brewing in her for the past few hundred years.

How close am I?

BTW the skill-levels of this drawing contain much badassery.

Thanks ever so much. =3 You're too kind. I'm glad you appreciate this one so, in spite of me portraying her differently - this one means the most to me out of any Koishi I've done to date.

Koishi is a character so random and special... I found you play with her insane personality and it's a really good idea :3
I'm french and it's hard for me to speak english correctly >< And I'm frustred because I have many many things to say about your drawing but I can't D: Excuse me if my comment appears empty...

fainin [2011-08-21 08:10:21 +0000 UTC]

Really different style of the central figure's face you've got here. Maybe it's just the style of the clothes or the claws on her shoulders, but it strikes me as though her head should be a bit bigger if she's as young as I think she is.

As ever, how do you paint such dynamic backgrounds? I can see the dabs and strokes but wow...the colours are gorgeous, and I don't usually like colour. As to the "jewel-case cover" appearance, do you mean Russian lacquer boxes?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Zucreelo In reply to fainin [2011-08-22 11:12:46 +0000 UTC]

I tried for a more-realistic style yes. This is actually pared back from the original photo-realism I started off attempting, but quit whilst I was ahead, realising I wasn't skilled enough to do it justice. I'm glad I went for a little stylisation in the end, otherwise I couldn'tve gone nuts with the background figure and BG like that. ^^ What did you think of the new style?

The person here is meant to be in her early-mid twenties; I'm not sure what your guess what, but perhaps it is something I overlooked. >< When I redesign her further she might appear younger though. Did the hairband throw you off at all?

I really don't have a process for tackling my backgrounds. I just scribble away, with colours starting dark going to light with decreasing brush size. Flattered as always that you like 'em though. =3 By jewel-case I merely meant music-CD covers - the front booklet inserts into the plastic cases. I'm sure I've heard them called that before. Russian lacquer boxes? Intriguing, that never occurred to me at all.

fainin In reply to Zucreelo [2011-08-23 02:10:18 +0000 UTC]

I like the new style, and I'm interested in how far you want to take the realism when you feel ready. I will always envy your stylised work. I wish I was consistent enough to attempt something like it -.-

I assumed she was in late adolescence by her garb but older by her face and head-size in terms of traditional stylised depictions. A combination of the braid, bows, outfit, and yes, the hairband (though I'm nearly 20 and I wear hairbands now-and-then and lolita-length petticoats).

Ah, those kinds of jewel-cases. Silly me. I was refering to the colour-scheme with the lacquer boxes. The pinks/purples of your background reminded me of the floral designs, combined with the appearance of being painted on black.
