Description This is my first digital art oil painting on canvas.

Reference model aircraft from SimV for FSX flight sim.
BG is original.

The scene is a FU4 Corsair as the pilot makes his final leg approach for a carrier landing, some where in the Pacific during WW II. The "Greatest Generation" at War.

The work was done using Corel Painter 12 and Vue. The brushes are really awesome.

This painting reminds me of my early days of oil painting art classes when there was no computers. Also it reminds me of the love for aviation art and all those great artists that I envied who illustrated those books "back in the day" . I can still smell the oils and turpintine today, good memories. Cheers, Mike

Like this warbird. have being told it was f.... hard to pilot.
I personnally saw one crashing at the take off (it was a scaled model...)

I can't image landing these on an aircraft carrier, it was a "controlled crash" as I have heard them say. It required the best of the best to pilot these planes.

The F-4U crashed a lot when attempting to land on a carrier because the pilot simply couldn't see where he was going. The cockpit had an abnormal angle that when the pilot came in to land, he couldn't see over the massive engine since plane would be angled upward in order to catch the line on touchdown.

But brushes and old paint aren't that bad.

Used to watch ba.ba black sheep with my dad, recently began showing it to my friend I think they are tired of my snipits on the plane lol
