Description The new and powerful “Yuri Dolgoruky” has been ordered to move from an unknown missile test area and begin to patrol the Northern Hemisphere.

K-535 "Yuri Dolgoruky" - Russian nuclear submarine strategic relating to the 4th generation . The lead ship of Project 955 "Borey" , was named in honor of the Duke of Yuri Dolgoruky , who is considered the founder of Moscow.

After years of development and construction, Russia's newest submarine has finally entered service with the Russian Navy. The first in its kind, 557 feet long 'Borey'-class ( “ North Wind”) submarine is powered by an OK-650B nuclear reactor, has a maximum speed of 25 knots and can dive to more than 1,400 feet below the surface. Built using the most sophisticated technology, the vessel is equipped with 16 Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) and six RPK-2 Viyuga cruise missiles, with a 5,000 mile range.

Russia has commissioned three submarines of the Borei class. Yuri Dolgoruky’s sister boats, Aleksandr Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh have been in construction since 2004 and 2006 respectively. Nevsky has been undergoing sea trials since October 2012 while Monomakh has been put on water in late December 2012.

I have been working on this "painting" for several days. I wanted to create a cold environment with a powerful look of weaponry. There are over (15) layers of colors and textures. Various photos from Google photos, mayyang skies, etc. Cheers, Mike

If I may say you succeeded admirably. It's cold here now where I am, and this makes me feel even colder. It's really quite a feat of artistry to impart the feel of the elements of a location in a painting. Very skillfully done, and an awesome image. This looks to be a formidable new player. Well Done Mike!

Thank You, my Dad was a ww2 flight instructor, needless to say I met many of his friends that were pilots. They are all gone, all so humble. They never really talked about the War. They went off to war did there job and came home to work and raise a family. Even my mother contributed, building props at Curtiss in St. Louis. I take a ww2 vet to church that served in the 102nd Ozark Divison. He told me about the stench of death as they walked in the bombed out German cities. I finally stopped asking questions because he would change the subject and would talk about the weather.

Thanks for for the feedback. Imagine these guys that flew were young 19, 20, 21 year olds that never complained and did their duty, yes they were the Greatest Generation.

Thank you, I was going for the cold and frigid waters, also a look of power a nd Tidents counterpart.

I watched several subs leave the mouth of Thames heading into cold North Atlantic from Groton CT, Electric Boat when I worked there.

The Alantic Ocean is always cold but beautiful and dangerous.
