Description As I mentioned: I had a lazy evening and this is what hapennend . No art, just for fun. I made this meme (blank version: zwerg-im-bikini.deviantart.com… and this is how my childhood looked like. Well... "childhood". I did not grow up with any videogames until I was 11 or 12 years old. Then my family got a computer with DOS and it all began. My first console was not bought before I was 18, so these are all PC games from my early gaming years. I added the years I got them (as far as I remember).

1) Lemmings 2 (1993)
During my DOS time this was my favorite game and I put in on first place because I played it recently and it still holds up. It is so much fun, I really love the concept. Later parts of the Lemmings franchise never reached this level of greatness.

2) Creatures (1998)
For quite some time this was the most important game for me. I put A LOT of time into it and it was the main reason I wanted to get my own computer with Windows 95. It also was the reason why I created my first homepage and decided to learn HTML. Unfortunately it does not have the same impact on my anymore when I play it today... but back in those days I was a real fangirl.

3) The Lionking (1995)
This was my favorite platformer... and the only one I had. Back in the mid 90s there were really good Disney platformers and I still enjoy playing this one from time to time. The animations look really nice, every level is different and the original music fits perfectly. The later levels are really difficult, but I never gave up because I loved this game so much.

4) Simon the Sorcerer (1995)
For some reason I never played a LucasArts adventure back in those days, but I had the CD rom version of this fantastic point & click adventure. I still think it is really funny and prefer it to Monkey Island. It also was my first video game with spoken text... this was very impressive!

5) You don't know Jack (1998)
This one is still a lot of fun today when I play with friends. The humour is amazing and the questions not too easy. They even managed to make a good German version.

6) Age of Empires (1998)
I played this RTS game a lot. I don't think I was really good at it... but I tried my best. I always loved knights and castles, so I guess this is why I enjoyed AoE 1 and 2 more than Command & Conquer or Warcraft. The historic setting and capaigns were interesting.

7) Hanse (1995)
Now it gets a little bit strange... This is something like a cult game for me, because my best friend and me used to play it just for fun without taking it seriously. It was a turn based economic simulation set in the 15th century, but the fun for as what that you could marry and have children. We gave them silly names and joked about the random events that happened to our families. Everybody else might find this boring, but I have very funny memories about this game .

8) The X-Files (1998)
I was a huge X-Files fan and so this game was amazing for me. It was shot like an episode of the show, with the real actors and a really exciting story! It looked SO good! Today I know it had its problems, but back then I really liked it and would still play it today for the memories.

9) Jurassic Park (1993)
Another one from my DOS years. When we got the first computer I was allowed to make a wish for a game for Christmas. As far as I remember I asked for Simon (which I got later), Zool and Jurassic Park. Back at this time everybody was crazy for Jurassic Park, so I was happy when I got it. But it turned out as a disppointment... I never managed to finish the 2nd level. I heard good things about the revolutionary first person levels and wanted to play those - but they put them at the end of the game! Years later I finally was able to play them with the help of cheat codes. Then it was fun, because I played them with my best friend and those levels were pretty scary. But still a frustrating game.

10) The Settlers (1996)
At first I only had the demo version, which I played a lot. Then I got the real thing, but I am not sure if I played it as much as the demo? Anyway, I liked the game. "Die Siedler" were very popular in Germany.

Honorable mention: Tekken 3 (1998)
I had no consoles, but my best friend lend me her PlayStation during the summer holidays. Basicle this meant 6 weeks of Tekken 3 and Tony Hawk. It must have been the Beat em Up Game I played the most in my whole life. And when she was at home we played together from time to time as well.

Hmmm...very interesting, it shows better what kind of "videogame childhood" you had
Where I can agree:
Lemmings (yes, I played this a lot, too)
Lion King (this one, too, but it was more like one of countless plattformers I played )
Simon the Sorcerer (yes, still one of my favourites, it was even one game I played together with my sister)
Settlers (I wouldn't call this a favourite or childhood favourite but I still enjoyed it and have nice memories of that game)

A pretty late videogame childhood...
Regarding the Settlers: This demo version was one of the first games I had, so this is why I played it a lot. But it was limited to 1 hour and you could not save, so I only repeated the early gameplay. From today's perspective this is really boring, but it shows how fascinated I was by every game I could get .
