No man, i always appreciate good critique! You are absolutely right. The major shortfall is the story. Originally, there was much more to the story, stretching the film out another 2-3 minutes or so. But as this film was to fullfill a school requirement and i only had so long to complete it, i ran into time crunch problem... essentially. (It was my fault for going to big to begin with)
I then was left with a decision to make. Do I keep the complete story and risk having to turn in an unfinished film? Do I come up with a new shorter story that might work, but once again risk running out of time trying to work through all of pre-production again? OR Do i cut up my current story into a straight forward, no twists kind of fim and just get it done?
Whether right or wrong i chose the last, because i honestly was running out of time and would rather have a finished piece. So I decided that if i was going to sacrifice the story, i should focus on making everything else good. So it became more of a technical piece in the end.
However, i am in total agreement with you. I REALLY wish the story was better. Since i finished it for a deadline and got that requirement filled, a large part of me is now considering going back in now and reworking it and possibly finishing it. Im now no longer bound to any constraints, so it is a possibility. LOL! though whether i do finish it or a learn from it and improve on the next film, i DO know i need a break for a few months. But thanks for the insight! Good stuff!

Slightly strange, but I quite liked it. Was there a hidden meaning or anything to that effect?

Aye aye. It's still breathtaking, despite the minor vagueness. I half expected 'em to walk out into a jungle or swamp or sommat.

okay..I love this film. It's so very simple yet it still entertained me and kept me wondering till the very end. There were some...awkward pauses...but other then that very well composed.

Nicely animated! Good sense of weight and movement. Not particularly complex in terms of acting, but it did what was required flawlessly. I liked the art style and the sound suited nicely. Well done to you and your team! I hope my future thesis turns out as good!

I don't usually take time to see movies on dA, but this was worth it! I wonder, do you have model/reference sheets for the two characters? They're simply lovable!

Glad you liked it! I do have character designs somewhere... but they may be packed in a storage shed somewhere since i recently moved. But if i ever find a copy i will toss em up!

im working on ideas to expand the story... or another short "adventure"... so their might just be more coming. and it wont take another 3 years, i assure you. I now have everything modeled and built and designed, so if i do more... it will be quicker.

Brilliant! Though, unfortunately, I might have to go through it a second time to understand what's going on completely- XD unless it's one of those open-to-interpretation things, then I guess it's fine. Though that's a small con compared to all the pros you've displayed- beautiful animation and great design and sfx done here- great job!
