"I can't believe you ate it," Def said, walking off and laughing.

"Well, I suppose someone needs to see if it's edible now to settle it. I guess that's on you, Hop."

"Def no!" Hopflight said, quickly rushing in to interrupt him. He smiled at Flint. "Sorry kid, just give me a second." He pulled Def aside.
"Def, you can't just keep giving him top Vanguard scores just because you want him as a Vanguard!"

Tidefrost paused to watch the cooking displays, unabashedly interested by the strangely alluring cacophony of scents and sounds. The sizzling of fire was one that she was still getting used to. The gray vanguard padded a little closer and recognized a smallish red figure attempting to turn a spit. She raised a brow and settled down to watch. Yet Flintkit's trophy-to-be suddenly slipped free of his forked stick and disappeared with a fascinating hiss into the flames.
Oh, dear.
Her heart went out to Flint. She probably would have had the same exact results- or worse.

String was sitting nearby, thinking up his own plans to tackle the events he signed up for. He heard the fire sizzle out of control and bounded over. “Flint! You’re food! Wait, don’t worry, Orchidpetal told me how to put out a fire!” He began shoveling sand over it.

The fire crackled and rose again, the fats in the meat flaring up in fitful bursts, before slowly beginning to die down. "Wait! How is it going to cook without the fire?!" Flint shouted as String started digging. He stuck his paws between String's to get him to stop digging. As much as he hated the fire, he kind of needed it right now.

String stopped. "But the fire will eat it all up, Flint!" He frowned. "Or... maybe you can leave it in longer to cook." String rubbed his paw over his cheek. He didn't really know how cooking was supposed to work. "Let me know when you want to put it out then, Flint." He backed away to let Flint work, keeping a careful eye on the flames.

Flint looked back at the fire nervously. Was it going to eat it? "I don't know." He could still see the meat in there, though the sand made it hard to discern now. The fire continued to burn irregularly, as though fighting back against the dirt kicked into it. "I think it might go out on its own." Whatever they did, he was pretty sure the meal was ruined at this point.

“Want me to put water on it so that you can get it out without getting burnt?” String looked at Flint, ready to use his hydrokinesis powers.

"Ehhhh." The meat was starting to look more and more like part of the logs. "I guess?" He said, shrugging.

String gave a nod. He activated Create Water and his auma swirled out of his paw over the fire, before a big splash of water came down over the fire. String jumped backwards out of the way as smoke and steam billowed out in protest and ashy water splashed at the cats. The fire was out in seconds, and Flint’s meat lay soggy and burnt, but relatively clean.
