Oooh I wonder what kind of dreams you had! Awsome.
Dreams are incredible.

Well, to be somewhat more specific, I had some fairly intense sleep disorders when I was young. I had chronic night terrors, somnambulism and once or twice experienced sleep paralysis. This sort of runs in my family. I also lived in a sort of secluded mountain neighborhood so a lot of my dreams were very... wooden? Dreams are incredible!

dreams, I try to write them out when I can remember them. (even the mundane ones)
I also grew up in the woods, and I did not have true night terrors, but I DID experience sleep paralysis a LOT - which can be a terror at times. (especially when coupled with sleep apnea)
The paralysis both terrified me and intrigued me. I kept trying to put myself in that state to see if I could get through them without that irrational fear. I will still get the paralysis at times, but not nearly as intense.
sleep is such an interesting subject.

I used to try and write them out. I don't why I stopped. See, I only had sleep paralysis very occasionaly. In fact, there are only two instances, which I remember distinctly. I suspect that there were some earlier ones bu who knows. Night Terrors, however, I had A LOT! I still have insomnia as a result, and I still sometimes remember things which absolutely did NOT happen in reality. Strange indeed, and a very interesting subject.

im not sure if the pseudo dreams I had during paralysis could've been classified as terrors or not. Perhaps half terror - very subtle fear elements.
But I do know how REAL those can be. *eep!* I don't blame you for having insomnia!

caries-caeli In reply to zyphryus [2007-06-11 15:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Probably not, unless after the dream you still werent sure if it was real or not. Then again, I suppose the nature of sleep paralysis is to have somewhat believable fear elements. Once mine was a recently deceased friend laughing at me from somewhere. That was the most personal and somehow the strangest occurance I remember.

Anyway, I am mostly over my insomnia now that I am older. It kicks in every once in a while though.

OH! I just remembered a night terror I had as a child. I dreamed that I woke up, walked down the hall to look out the window and saw a whole bunch of decrepit beavers stairing up at me. I don't know if they were zombie beavers or what, but for years I was afraid of beavers. Hehe.

Oh creepy! zombie beavers!
I still cringe at some of the more vivid dreams I've had where I experienced pain of some sort.
Taste can affect dream too. I woke up from a nightmare about puking - and the 'bad taste' didn't go away for a few days, and I wouldn't eat the snackfood that I gorged myself on earlier for years. One should never go to bed with a bad taste in their mouth!

Insomnia is something I have but unrelated to sleep or dreams. I just fight going to bed because I love being awake. But then I fight waking up because I love sleep.

Wow, the bad taste stayed with you for a few days. Dreams really are quite powerful.

Haha! I feel the same away about waking and sleeping. Still, I have this lingering fear of going to sleep. I just sort of get nervous. I think a part of my subconcious mind thinks that if I do fall asleep, something bad will happen.

This picture is beautifully done. It reminds me of peacful places, in the woods, where you are surrounded by nice soft sounds of animals, and the faeries are whispering to each other in the shades. I wish I were in some pretty ass faery land right now..........this is really nice .

hmmm ... I was thinking of doing digital style paintings in real life - maybe watercolors
also I was thinking of a paint printer
it paints it with a brush (sort of a plotter but wit multiple heads and an advanced interpretive driver or something)
its just a shame that digital art is so ephemeral...

wanders off

*grin* usually I hear the reverse of that statement, ie: 'id like to do watercolor style using digital' or something, and not it reverses! i love art fluidity.
watercolors are fun.

cool.
too bad our culture is so engrained in technology.
sometimes i envision living in the woods in a cob hut that i built myself, a spear and a garden. but... i think id die pretty fast. it might be plausable for a few people at a time to go au-natural but for technology to dissapear rapidly, say for a whole country, that would mean apocalypse and death to so many. which is ok if you think from a universe's perspective.
dont mind me, 'luddite' just got me on a subject ive thought about a lot and possibly inspires some drawings.

not to be confused with Lyddite, (a nickname of mine, as well as a high explosive consisting chiefly of picric acid. )

The combination of the original pencil linework and the earthy colors make it look very ancient and very wise - in an animistic kind of way.
