# About me

Thought I'd do a new pic with my Nephew, who I saw a few weeks ago! :D He's nearly one now and I hadn't seen him since January as he emigrated to the USA (With my brother and his wife....he didn't go by himself :P...)...dawww! :)

I'm 34 (yeh I know :( ) and started drawing in March 2011 after 20 years of ignoring art..(I'm more a scientist). :) I took redundancy from my job, so took up pencilling to give me a new hobby while looking for work :)

It's been a great journey so far and I've had tons of help from the great community here on DA, so long may it continue! :D

Maybe at the end of the year I'll do a new picture, as I'm trying to lose a bit more weight finally :) I lost nearly 4 stone (Err... or about 24kg or about 53 lbs for those who don't use stone :P) last year, so wouldn't mind just another stone or so...bah back to the gym :(

Enough mumbling...I have drawing to do :)

Actually, I have an "Artsy Fartsy" question. haha

I was working on my drawing for the past 2 days, and i can't seem to get the nose quite right. I checked, re-checked and even erased several times to try and get it right. Granted, I don't have all the shadowing in yet. But his nose seems "ginormous." lol I didn't know what i should do to try and fix it. I don't really like how it's turning out, and I'm kinda embarrassed to post it on here. haha XD (Considering it doesn't look much like him to begin with... I guess Im a bit rusty.) Anyway, If there was a way i could send it personally through some sort of other way, or if you have any tips. Thanks!

Just had to comment on a bit of a parallel experience. I gave up art after a crappy GCSE experience (lousy art teacher) and pursued sciences much to my ultimate regret. Now I'm off work (maternity leave) and had to find a creative outlet; drawing seemed the only thing that was easy to pick up and put down in a hurry (kids can be randomly demanding) and was portable. So 20 years later...I hope that with some more (months of) practice I may get close to what you've achieved. Your art is inspirational.

Wow thanks so much for the kind comment! :) (Smile) I have to say I've been a bit slow recently and not really done anything much, but I really loved it when I started drawing again. Honestly if you just try and improve with every drawing and see how others do it, it's really easy to get some good results! There is just so much to learn however :( (Sad) Wish you all the best though :D (Big Grin)
