Hey, long time no see. My computer was dead for a number of months, and job and girlfriend stuff was eating my time. How's things?

For me I seemed to fly through a lot of different girls that were eating up my time. I watched three different chicks turn into psychos over the course of a few months. I'd start going out with them, everything would be fine, then once they started to settle in, their true crazy self would come out.

Trying to work also ate up much of my remaining time. I was supposed to be working for a snow service, only problem it's been one of the warmest winters in years here. Most days there's been no snow. No snow means no money for me. So I've been out and about looking for work.

School's also been kicking my ass lately. I had to drop close to $300 on supplies for this photography class I'm taking now. I was so pissed, my teacher gave me this long ass list of supplies to get and everything on it was like $30. A lot of shite.

A few months ago my computer mysteriously died so I was offline for about 2 months. I finally managed to get the hard drive replaced and now it acts like a piece of crap every time I use it.

On a high note though, my interest in crime cases seems to be landing me a book deal. I was approached by a family member of a murder victim through my facebook account to write a book on their nephew's case. They then got me in contact with the father of the victim, and I've been collaborating on the book with him since then. Honestly it all seemed to simply fall into place without even trying.

THAT'S AWESOME DUDE!! I'm super hype for you, congrats. I know you're writing style would bring a new angle on the case and really show up the details. You don't fall for shit lol

I totally understand how it is with school. I started working yet somehow all my money went to bills, taxes & transportation (thank you MTA). My classes weren't remotely of interest so I kinda bailed on a few which was dumb on my part so now I'm trying to clear up the money I owe the school and sign up for classes again.

Girls....bitches be crazy ....hope no girls saw that and think I'm an insensitive jerk but sometimes it's true. I got back with an ex and we've been trying this long distance thing but I don't trust her worth a damn. I think over everything she says & it makes no sense but I can't leave. We broke up the other day, I told her I fuckin hate her Friday, and we're still saying I love you etc...You'll always get a crazy girl but it's getting a girl whose craziness makes you smile

I think my attitude towards not believing the hype a lot of criminals put out there is what caught me the gig. The book is about the West Memphis Three case that I told you about. They were those three child killers who I mentioned getting paroled. They had entered a rare type of guilty plea in the crimes this summer, known as an Alford plea. An Alford plea is something criminals make in order to save face when they've been claiming innocence so long, and want people to still think of them as framed choir boys that the police are simply picking on. Under the law it's the same as pleading guilty. You're treated just the same by the state, the only thing it does is lets you say that you're innocent, but you can't prove it. It also means that you admit all the evidence shows you are guilty, and that at a new trial, a jury of your peers would find you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The plea even let them parole one of the killers, Damien Echols off of death row. Don't let anyone ever tell you life in prison means life, and that murderers sentenced to death don't get back out to kill again. They can and do. Infact there's been numerous cases where killers have been paroled off of death row.

[link]

That's Kenneth McDuff. He was known as the Broomstick killer. The state of Texas paroled him despite that he was sentenced to die in the elctric chair for raping and murdering a girl and killing shooting to death two other people. When they released him he started a one man war on women. He started raping and killing just about any woman who had the misfortune of crossing his path. By the time the police had caught back up with him he had murdered atleast 14 people in total that they knew about, and it was likely that he had killed others that they simply were unable to prove that he killed.

[link]

Harvey Carignan, was another paroled off of death row. He was supposed to be executed, but instead they cut him loose back out onto the streets to murder again and again.

The public doesn't really notice things like that as much, that some really nasty guys are being released into their neighborhoods every year, right under their noses.

My attitutde and debating supporters of the West Memphis Three over on Facebook evidently impressed some of the family members of the victims. Sometimes I felt like a dick arguing with some of them, but it was nessecary in order to disprove many of the myths put out by the killers' defense team. It was this debating that built up a bit of a friendship with some of them, and one day the aunt of one of the murdered children had said to me how I should write a book on this case since I knew enough about the case. After talking about it for awhile, the aunt put me in touch with her brother, who was the father of one of the murdered boys. I've been taking notes and talking to him about what his thoughts are, trying to get as much inside info on the case as possible. There's been two other books on the case in the past, but both of them are terrible. One of them says they're innocent, and the other says they're guilty. I'm trying to write, to the best of my abilty one that the parents think does the case justice.

I had to bail on a class recently also. I realised far too late that the class required you to spend obscene amounts of money on items for each assignment. It was costing me about $80 every time my teacher had me doing something. I'm not made of money, and I was already having trouble keeping up, so I quit my photography class.

Last one I realized far too late that she fucking around behind my back with some douchebag. She kept trying to tell me that this guy was only a friend, but then she started blowing me off on days I was supposed to see her, and each time she was hanging out with a "friend". Then one day she was all upset that her "friend" hadn't called her one day, and complained and whined about it to me. She actually complained to me about how the guy who she was cheating on me with hadn't called her. At the time she was still claiming it was just a "friend". She also tried to say shit to me like that she was unsure if she should be dating right now since she just got out of a bad relationship, then another day she'd be talking to me about how one day we might have kids. Some days we were broken up, some days we were dating. I came to believe on the break up days that she was cheating, and one day she told me on one of the break up days that she had gone on a date with another guy, but that I shouldn't feel bad because it was a guy she'd been friends with for over a year, and she had only been dating me for about 2 months. Eventually the guy she was banging told me on facebook to leave her alone, along with the guy's brother. After that the girl stopped talking to me. She never broke up with me. She blocked me on facebook, and changed her status to being in a relationship with him. She stopped returning my calls, and acted like she never heard of me before. She ended up stealing a bunch of my dvds on top of it, and letting me spend all sorts of cashing taking her shopping the day before she stopped talking to me. She fucking used me. It's been awhile since a girl pulled that shit, but I bought into her bs hook line and sinker. She was one of those shy girls who acts like she never dates or does anything or has any friends. If you hear a girl say that shit, she's lying. She was a crazy, crazy, crazy bitch who I wouldn't be surprised if she was using the guy she left me for.

Some of the family members of the victims started to take notice of my debating cases

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, I remember that case. It had me sick for weeks after I watched the movie smh didnt know it was that one. Geez man, if you can defend that case with the family you're better than I thought lol

That's ridiculous, she's bold smh you shouldve gotten super aggressive or ignored her like she didnt matter. If she was interested she wouldve stopped all that bs when she realized you werent waitin on her. Girls like that like the chase. If you're hers & she knows she can use you, she will. Be the one shes complaining about not the one she complains to...the chick I was together with would always say she loved me & went off how she wanted to have my baby but when my mom was in the hospital I got calls from everyone except her. All the chick did was ask what I was buying her for Vday -___- really?? Then when I called her on it she got mad and dumped me. On her page she had this dude yelling at other guys sayin she has a boyfriend a week ago so while I was with my mom she was cheating, racking up guys & gifts for VDAY I guess lmao Nice guys finish last if they look past the bull. Dont stick around to be shitted on later dude

Thanks. I draw everything, from super dirty to squeaky clean stuff.

I've been meaning to pick up the first graphic novel for the new MAX series. The shop near me sold out of the series quicker than I could get a hold of the issues, so I was just waiting on the TPB to come out. Only problem is I never seem to have enough money whenever I'm buying comics, so I'm a bit behind on the series. I had been following it for awhile though. From about the Ennis run on Marvel Knight all the way till he finished his run on MAX.

I gave up on following comics lol it was battle that my pockets couldn't win. Plus the instant gratification of the paperback novels always outweighed the wait of a new issue. Alot of people rush for the single issues so by the time the novel comes out they've already read it or spent their money

I still try, but I've been out of it with a lot of comics lately. Most of the Marvel and DC books end up pissing me off eventually. It never fails, no matter how often I'll try to get into a book. I used to read Spider-Man off and on when I was a kid, so I tried to get back into his book for awhile, but they always seem to take a giant dump on his book consistently. For example I gave the book a break when they did the whole Gwen Stacy had kids with Norman Osborn story. That pissed me off to no end. They also had Black Cat get raped if I'm remembering correctly, and the whole Brand New Day thing kinda irks me. So anything Spider-Man is off my list for awhile. All the rest of the books I fell behind on because of missing an issue, and never tracking down those damn graphic novels.

ANIMATED-REBEL In reply to GreatAdthulhu [2011-01-30 01:57:34 +0000 UTC]

lol I could never get into Spidey like that. There was something about the whole storyline that I wanted nothing to do with (except for the cartoons because I grew tired of the movies). I'm getting into the classics more lately so right now I'm reading Sandman by Neil Gaiman and it hasn't disappointd me yet.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreatAdthulhu In reply to ANIMATED-REBEL [2011-01-30 03:29:15 +0000 UTC]

Spider-Man is like a giant middle finger every time I get into it. I was kinda hoping that they'd undo a lot of past nonsense in Spider-Man with Brand New Day, but it seems they only added to it. Black Cat getting raped I just thought was typical Big 2 crap. DC's been going rape crazy the last few years also. Hell they even did a story where Dick Grayson gets raped. Robin got raped! Jesus, but atleast it didn't happen the way I imagined it would. He was banged by a hot latin chick so maybe it cancels out the rape.

Sandman's pretty cool. I read the first volume of that, but I haven't gotten around to checking out the rest.

ANIMATED-REBEL In reply to GreatAdthulhu [2011-01-30 06:08:52 +0000 UTC]

I cant stand rape in comics. I have all the Sin City novels except the Yellow Bastard because that issue is all about Nancy almost being raped by Rourke's son the pedophile. I dont know who thought it was cool but its not. I didn't know about anyone getting raped from the Batman clan except Barbara after Joker shot her. Dick getting raped by the latin chick must have been an overly aggressive fantasy come true

Sandman is great. Alot of the characters come back around in so your interest in the story stays alive. I like the intricate backstory with death, despair, dream and all the other immortals. I just got started on volume 3

GreatAdthulhu In reply to ANIMATED-REBEL [2011-02-01 02:01:48 +0000 UTC]

It's fine to me as part of a story, afterall murder is far worse than rape, and there always seems to be people dying in comics. It's just that they've taken it too far and maybe placed too much emphasis on it in superhero books lately. It's fine when it's in books like Watchmen or The Punisher, but it irks me to see it in straight up superhero books like Spider-man for no real reason. As if they wrote a story, and showed it to the editors at Marvel and they said "you know what this story's missing? A rape or two."

The Nightwing rape though was written by a female writer who had been a fan girl for awhile. The villain who raped him was sort of a stand in character for herself as well, so it was like reading someone's fan fiction.

I've been meaning to read the rest of Sandman. My brother has a bunch of volumes of it, so I've never bought any of them since I could always borrow them from him eventually.

ANIMATED-REBEL In reply to GreatAdthulhu [2011-02-01 03:45:17 +0000 UTC]

Dude you're hilarious thats definitely something I wouldve said lol I think they try to add a certain dark/realistic feel to the superhero comics. They try anything to bring a lager audience instead of keeping them the way they are. All that overly aggressive sexual stuff should be reserved for a one time graphic novel like what Frank Miller did with Batman and DareDevil.

Sandman is worth the read. I read the first volume and had to see how the rest was. I was grabbed by the writing and storyline. I still cant figure out where they're going with it or how it could possibly end.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreatAdthulhu In reply to ANIMATED-REBEL [2011-02-08 06:11:17 +0000 UTC]

I always hated it whenever they'd try to make a character all dark and mysterious by doing something drastic like that. You just can't do that with some characters and that's how you end up with this whole rape crap.

I'll have to check it out eventually. Maybe one of these days I'll borrow the next few volumes from my brother.

So, how's the comic coming along?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ANIMATED-REBEL In reply to GreatAdthulhu [2011-02-08 07:05:56 +0000 UTC]

Rape should be a part of the backstory at most. Keep the darkness in the past. It sucks as a main topic.

I've actually been waiting for you to reply lol I have about 25 pages of straight words and I'm close to wrapping up this story (done by the end of the week latest; depending on how annoying my classes get). I even have an idea for a sequel . Sketched out some rough ideas of the main characters' costumes too. My question is, am I writing too much? I explained everything clear enough that the reader can visualize it but when the art is added most of that won't be needed lol plus is it too indepth for a graphic novel?

I have the beginning posted here [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreatAdthulhu In reply to ANIMATED-REBEL [2011-02-09 00:06:20 +0000 UTC]

No. I don't think you can ever write too much when it comes to scripting out a comic. It's always a good idea to write down everything you're visualizing at the time. This helps yourself, and can help if you collaborate with an artist. Some of the time when you see a script they're long paragraphs for each panel description. Although if you want to be a bit more freer with it you can always just jot down a quick description. Just what's happening at the moment, and if anyone's speaking.

Always good to have a sequel planned. It gives you something to work with if you ever revisit a comic idea.

As far as being too indepth for a graphic novel, I think it could work. It'd probably be dialog heavy with the narrations on the first few pages, as you give the background information. That sample you showed me could easily be half an issue if you were telling it in a quicky compressed form, or easily an entire 22 page issue depending on the length.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ANIMATED-REBEL In reply to GreatAdthulhu [2011-02-09 03:16:35 +0000 UTC]

I wrote down some visual descriptions in the beginning but as I went on I tried to write it in because theres more dialogue and background detail. Now I'm going back to add the little stories that clarify the character relationships while I figure out a strong enough ending. The way it's coming out it seems like it might be a short graphic novel like KickAss but the details are strong. My dialogue is weak though lol there isn't much chatter.

The sequel is an idea but I'm not sure how far that can go yet. I have the beginning and ending but no real middle. If I get it done then it will change the readers' perception of the characters completely.

I'm trying to finish it as soon as possible so I can start the copyright process. I've been too scared to get public feedback lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GreatAdthulhu In reply to ANIMATED-REBEL [2011-02-09 04:52:23 +0000 UTC]

What you can do after you finish writing it up is make some thumbnails to rough out basicly how you might invision each page looking, and try to rough out the pages that way first. Then you can move on to the detailed script. For a comic of any kind you always need to remember to have an even number of pages for when you print.

If you're having trouble writing you should try picking up Peter David's book "Writing for Comics with Peter David". The book has some good information on how to write comics and how to come up with stories. It should help with fleshing out a middle for your sequel. He sort of tells you in the book, how you should constantly ask yourself questions while you're writing. First write out everything you know about your characters. Even the mundane things.

Write down things like their favorite color, favorite author, what kind of music they like, their religion, favorite food, their motivation in life. Just simple things like this can provide story ideas or provide the next step in the story, because it helps you flesh them out as a person.

If your interested I can always scan a few pages from the book on some sections that might help you out in the writing process.

I just ordered the book lol should get it in a few days. I definitely lost my way from the original concept I had because I never wrote down the ideas when they came or I wrote them on old papers that I lost but I like what I came up with too. I just have to try and mix the old with the new.

And sure, should I post it as a deviation, note or in a comment?

It's hard to get comments. It's hard enough to get people to view my stuff. You have to really join and participate in a lot of groups and comment a lot in the forums to get them. I found though that people don't comment or even fav your work unless it involves tits, ass, tits and ass, or some generic popular thing at the moment. For example I drew a pic of a naked Jinx from Teen Titans, and suddenly almost over night it has over 380 views.

I know for a fact a few of the people who faved my Jinx pic are underage. Most of them don't list their age, but they talk about things on their blogs when you go to their pages that make it obvious. Such as for example saying what year in high school they are. It is. That's also why there's so much whining and drama on the site. Just stop by the Help with Life section of the forum, and read some of the "problems" people have. Most of them are clearly teen angst issues. Such as "nobody likes me so I don't see what's the point in living". There's literally tons like that. Or people claiming they're asexual because they haven't had sex yet, and getting all worked up over it. Sometimes I comment in there just to fuck with them to see if I can get a rise out of them, it's always great for passing the time by.
