It's full of tutorials for Inkscape, ranging from the trivial to the very advanced things.

how on earth do you use inkscape....i just cant get the hang of it...you've got some really good graphics but i just cant see how they came from that crappy open source software....enlighten me on how to use inkscape to make those incredible vectors....(i cant even find the earse tool in inkscape)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Anarres In reply to AlbyRuthless [2008-03-14 23:41:54 +0000 UTC]

I have been intending to write some HOWTOs for Inkscape for a long time --- but then, I am constantly busy, and rarely even log on here, let alone gather the time to prepare some docs.

Anyway --- and forgive me if I am wrong --- I think that your problem with Inkscape is not the application itself (which is far from crappy... I earn my living as a graphic designer out of it, so it is good enough at least for that), but the way it works.

Have you ever tried a vector application before? Which one?

You should know that the idea of an "eraser" tool in Inkscape doesn't make much sense --- graphics are created by drawing outlines (shapes) to which then you apply a fill and/or a stroke. Objects retain their individuality (as if they were in separate layers), and when you want to delete one you just click on it and press backspace.

I'd direct you towards Inkscape itself --- in the Help menu of the program you have a "tutorials" entry which documents how to work with it with ease.

Thank you for the compliments.

great gallery! (y)
i really like your works.

I need to update it. I have material that I haven't posted here, mainly because keeping both my website and DA updated is double the work, plus the fact that DA's uploading scheme is tiresome.

But I do need to update.

and i sure check out inskape now

It seems that I am a step closer to the Medal of Her of Free Software, then.

I hope you enjoy the program, it is very good. Be sure to try the development versions. They've implemented blur filters, along with some other very interesting things too.

Anarres In reply to bannder [2006-06-14 22:45:47 +0000 UTC]

Hola Bannder,

Hello Blue!

Yes, it has been a very long time. I am currently trying to get along with finishing two careers, and also deepening into politics, and honestly I don't have the time to update my archives anymore (my webpage is also outdated). I keep designing, though, and I have done some interesting works lately.

Perhaps, with some luck, I shall have time to live again by the summer.

Is everything fine in that end of the Wire?

bluefluke In reply to Anarres [2006-05-25 01:13:31 +0000 UTC]

Two careers? Good lord man, sounds stressful (unless you enjoy them of course).
Glad you're still into politics, is that one or both of you careers? You'd be a good debater, lol. ^_^

Me? Doin' good. Moved back to the city where I belong, and it's done a world of good, got my life back
into perspective. The suburbs really seem to drain the life from you, I felt like a turd in a punch bowl.
I just recently quit my 9-5 and started doing full time freelance art for a local 'zine called "city beat".
They don't pay as much, but it feels good not to be forced to wake up at X time and eat luch at Y time and be to
bed at Z time and so forth.

Well, hope you get some time off this summer, looking forward to more of your art, hell, just having someone
that has something intelligent to say at DA would be nice, lol.
Laters! ^_^

Anarres In reply to bluefluke [2006-06-14 22:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Well, the 'two careers' would be Physics and Computer Science, and yes, I like them both, although the former is being left a bit aside while I finish the latter. Politics is something extraacademic, at least for the time being.

I am glad to see you like it better back in your city. And it is wonderful that you are doing freelance -- I envy you. Even if the pay is lower, if you can live out of it must be very gratifying to do what you want (apart from the flexibility of the schedules, of course).

Definitely, I will have to gather some time during summer to post things here and there, and update (and probably redesign and rebuild, I plan on writting my own CMS) my website.

By the way, I like your new icon!
