Ah, it is actually taking place in the past
In the comic, everyone calls Ammy "Shiranui" because the events of the battle between Shiranui and Orochi have just occurred, and Shiranui hasn't been reborn as Amaterasu just yet. Thus, the story takes place during the 100-year gap between Shiranui's death and Amaterasu's rebirth^^
