You know what? I got my guitar when I was your age. Didn't learn to play it until a year and a half though. I would say research and choose wisely, because now I think I'd like a bass guitar more.

yeaa my older brother was suppose to teach when i turned 10 and give me his acoustic guitar but there is a seven year difference between us and he was off to college before he could and now i really really want a guitar

I learned to play from the internet without any kind of classes. Though it took a while. You'd just have to get a guitar and then if you like music as much as me, you'd get it done.
