I wish I knew where ideas come from. Why inspiration comes in abundance sometimes, and completely dries up moments later. I know it has something to do with synapses and brain cells but beyond that I really don't know...

I'd like to think there's an idea-tree growing in my backyard, but that's not true.

Faya is something I made up over years and years of just telling a story to myself when I used to daydream. I worked on it in journals and in the sides of my sketchbook. I made up the characters and then made a world for them to live in. I've been working on making it into a story for a while now. It's the first thing I think about when I wake up, and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep.

I'm glad you like Oracle. He's one of my favorites.

I'm glad you asked permission first. But unfortunately, in regards to copying my characters I'd have to say no. I'm very protective of my characters and I would encourage you to make your own characters and write the stories that you want to tell.  It makes it more meaningful to make a story from your heart with characters that are all your own.

If you are looking for inspiration I would look to mythology. Especially really obscure mythology. Take a look at the ichthyocentaurs from Greek myths. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthyoc…

Oracle is very different from these guys but this would be a good place to jump off from.

Read. Read a lot and research creatures from other cultures. I hope that helps.

Oh, sorry, I believe I expressed myself little wrong here Tends to happen too often...

What I meant to say was that Oracle gave me sudden strike of inspiration. I've been trying to design myself a new sleek dragonic character for weeks (I even have the name down in one journal entry "List of my OCs" for weeks) but no matter what I tried, it wasn't quite it. Everything felt too unoriginal and I noticed some too obvious design traits on my other characters I tried to give to him/her. When I saw Oracle, I realized what I need as a base. I am not trying to copy your character here, oh no, I am aware of how offensive it can be towards the original character's owner and I respect copyrights. My character has it's own bio (I never copy from others, I have my own headworld, my own stories and even my own comic in work) and own story and trust me, it is way different from Oracle's, I just couldn't get the design together but your precious lil' baby gave me couple ideas I could try out c: Oh, and my chara will be a shape shifter whose one form is something sphinx-centauric (idk, my bad English here...). That's the idea I got from your Oracle.
I wanted to ask wether it's okay that I got inspired by your character because I know how gentle this character-creating topic is .__. You know, just to avoid further confusions and misundertsandings.
Sorry if I expressed myself little bad there, I wrote the first comment around 3am in my time X)

If you're still not okay with it then I won't create this character, just tell me

I usually don't get inspiration from mythology, I'm more of a fantasy oriented and therefore my random ideas support me. Oh, and some character designs and ideas are inspired by my dreams .__. Don't ask what is going on in my subconciousness, I don't know either...

I'm glad you feel inspired to make your own things. I like it when someone says my comic inspired them to draw, or write, or make their own comic. 

I understand where your coming from on being stuck on a character. When that happens I try to remember that characterization feeds design. Not the other way around. Who are they? What do they want to do in life? How do they interact with people? The more descriptive you can be on their personality traits without relying on just their physical description, the stronger your character will be. So you're right. You need a base. I'm sure you'll come up with something awesome.

MYTHOLOGY IS THE ROOT OF FANTASY!!!   Holy crap read mythology! Seriously. You'll find that the Sphinxs aren't the only centaur-creatures with paws. I really encourage you to read.

Oh hell yes your comic has motivated to keep going with mine. Btw, did I mention that I really love the style you use? It seems quite simple at first but when to look closer then I can see how detailed it actually is. Andohmygoshes, how do you background??? They're simply marvelous ;w; I'm not that good at backgrounds, so, I really admire people who are good at them.
I might sound like a crazy fangirl already but I just like to express myself that way.

Mmm I believe I have no trouble when it comes to designing characters but with this current one I got stuck a bit. I went through a slight art block recently and I believe it affected me when it came down to Imus (the chara I'm talking about). But now the vision I got of him/her after seeing Oracle... oh yes, I believe I figured out what I needed

P.S. I feel little awkward when people quote me like that .___. Just saying.

But how did mythology came to be? I believe it was born from the creativity and fantasy of people Now I know nowadays fantasy is mostly based on mythology and old folk stories because it's a great source of inspiration. Nnnhh, I suck at explaining things but I'm not trying to argue with you here For me, mythology is used to define the creature you've created, you know, to explain it to others better. Let's say, I've created a creature that reminds centaur but in my headworld it might be something else but if I wanted the others to understand it I define it through the word centaur.
But then again, most of my characters are dragons that are purely from mythology, so, I'm not denying the fact that I don't use mythology at all. In fact, I'm a sucker for ancient Egipt mythology ;w; It all is just so exciting. Now I've read quite a lot about mythology and do know something but I'm bad at remembering names, so, it's hard for me to define one or another creature with specific words |D Moreover, I'm not native speaker which makes it little harder for me.

And again, no problem I know how much support means to an artist and therefore I really enjoy doing it. I can't tell how amazing my story will be but thank you!
