Hey Ariel,
I'm no longer updating this page with my art. I'm going to be more selective from here on out about what I share with the internet. My online portfolio can be found at www.elisamphillips.com

What fun. I feel like I'm flipping through someone's personal sketchbook, rather than standing in a posh gallery. These drawings and sketches are full of life.

"...When determining the type of virus that has infected a host, lab tests analyze the host's blood or fluids for the presence of peptides that result from such a viral infection. Two such tests that are currently in use include "Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay" (ELISA), and "Enzyme-Multiplied Immunoassay Technique" (EMIT)..."
This passage was so hard to get through x_x. But it made me chuckle.

Modesty is such a bore, though.
It's much more entertaining to create controversy.

controversy is more interesting. I don't know about creating it (I'm not a confrontational person), but I do enjoy a good debate from time to time. and I was sincere about your piece being good. much better than most of what was chosen, even--though I don't think it was quite what they were looking for.

I'm quite the confrontational person (German and Irish heritage and all that). I also grew up in a family where if we have a problem with something, we say it. Shit hits fan, we get angry, we cool down, we forgive, and we move on. It's a lot more passionate that way, I think.
I'm also an actor and a bit of a manipulator, so I enjoy plucking the chords of the heartstrings and seeing what reaction I get.
PS- I'll let you in on a little secret. >.> I just used Lord of the Rings as a heavily-influenced reference and changed some of the details.

it's funny, the closest of my friends are the same way. I suppose I do enjoy a good contrast in personality. and really, the world does need more openly honest people like you. with everyone trying so hard not to offend one another (myself included), it only serves to brand honesty in a poisonous light. while I try to be as honest as possible, I will shut my mouth when I feel necessary, or otherwise choose my battles wisely. I've been doing some instigating throughout the comments, but only to those I felt needed a stern talking to.
PS- even if that is the case, I'd like to think that I can tell when an artist is highly skilled. referencing is a perfectly legitimate tool and I deem your piece no less credible for it. you are certainly in your own league. (I'm not trying to flatter you, this is my honest opinion of your work)

you are entitled to that response! also, blushing seems to be amongst the more modest of responses. maybe you aren't the egomaniac you make yourself out to be.

most of my old stuff was heavily influenced by the anime style, but since getting out of highschool I've gone back to the fundamentals and tried to become more versatile. thank you so much for taking the time to look through my gallery

my favorite valentine i saw this year was a picture of that ugly wrinkly-faced dude from star trek wearing all red and a really gay lookin' hat and it said "Happy Valentine's day" at the top, and "Suck My Dick" at the bottom.
