My Pleasure

Incidentally, I could tell you were probably Russian just from the picture itself. Only people who grew up with the Volkov version draw Strasheela/The Scarecrow that plump!

Hey!

Do you know if there is a Baum Bugle covering the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Oz in 1987?

GoreyAcolyte In reply to FleurRebelle [2014-07-22 11:29:23 +0000 UTC]

Not sure. Fact is I'm not actually a Baum Bugle subscriber; I just bought those back issues that had articles I needed. They probably covered it , but I have no information. If you remember when in 1987 it was put on, that might give you a clue as to which issue (there are three each year)

Is there a list somewhere? It was running in December 1987 so they probably covered it in early 1988.

The IWOC might have a list, but I'm not sure

You are quite welcome. Your picture reminds me of a cross between Ozma (the actual princess of Oz, according to the post wizard books) and an illustration I saw in a Japanese version of "The Red Shoes" by the Japanese children's book artist Yutaka Ono (similar dress, almost idenical heeled green Mary Janes).

The ozma should be relitively easy, but the "Red Shoes" I was referring to has been out of print for over a decade and so is now all but unobtainable. In theory, you might find a copy on ebay, but at this point, I wouln't bank on it, I have a copy, but I can't do a scan without damaging it (opening the book to scan the page would crack the spine) just in case you are looking for book 14 of the set that most of the books here are

No prob. I Love your interpretation of Scaps, It's so Pippi Longstocking-ish. My nitpicky side want to point out that the text says that Scraps does have shoes, but to be honest I think I like this "barefoot" look better

You quite welcome. I've always been fond of Dorothy's who look like they actually might be a little less than sweetness and light.
