Thank you very much for favin my Little Froggy wrist gatling gun!

It's very much appreciated.
Especially by such an accomplished artist like yourself.

And you know what?
The suprise got even bigger by discovering, you were the one, who had created the original wrist gun, that influenced me after I had the idea of such a device in mind!
Even more funny, that the stories behind the guns seem to be the same: created from scraps and leftovers and both published in a book, too.

So finally after two years, I can thank you personally for the inspiration: THANKS!

HAHA! Wow, that is crazy! I'm glad I helped influence your piece a bit

Arsenal-Best In reply to Hexonal [2013-01-01 19:10:15 +0000 UTC]

Not just a bit.

As my last non-Steampunk Project before was my Jango Fett outfit, I had something like his weapongaunlets in a Steampunk version in mind and started to search for inspiration for it. After I had the idea of the gatling started by that leftover revolverdrum, I specifically looked for wristguns (antiques and steampunks) and at the time yours was basically the only one that I really liked, that did fit in style my own design philosophy of Steampunk. From there I knew, I wanted to achieve the same feel with Froggy like you did with your wrist gun.

If I may, I have a question for you:
I read in the comments, that you sold your wrist gun via ebay with a starting bid of 150.
As soo many people send me requests since Froggy became a Daily Deviation, I'm currently thinking if maybe a small production run on demand would be possible. But only if I could do that for an affordable price, as I don't want to get rich with it, just am happy if I can spread my designs a bit among people who do appreciate it.
Still I would be interested, if it is not too inquisitive, for how much your wrist gun was sold in the end (of course you can answer me in private with a note if you like).

Thank you and a happy new year!

I just LOVE your work! I'm a HUGE Steampunk fan and am currently working on a S.P novel.....getting to my question. I'm trying to create my own outfit for a convention next year and i was wondering if you could give a beginner like me any tips?

Hexonal In reply to DarkClover13 [2012-08-08 14:15:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Always good to have more steam-novels!
Tips...
Tennis shoes will kill any outfit.

Women have WAY more freedom with clothing, and modern skirts can be altered easily to look more "Victorian". I've followed a couple tutorials online for my Girlfriend, google "simple bustle skirt"
Or mens clothing can be worn for an adventurer look.

A bustle can be worn over anything.

The thriftstore is your friend, and not just for clothing. Belts and bags can be repurposed for materials. Plus you can find clocks and other misc. Supplies.

Use as little plastic as possible.

Find your local Tandy leather, they have scrap leather by the pound, some in precut shapes, as well as new stock, hardware tools and classes.

Most of all, have fun!

Which con are you gearing up for?

I'm going as the Tenth Doctor for Halloween, but the party i'm going to is primarily Steampunk themed. Do you have any tips on how to make Doctor 10 more Steampunk?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hexonal In reply to LDHCIII [2010-09-19 02:42:31 +0000 UTC]

Hrm. defenately my fave doctor... but also the most timeless in costume, I mean he fits from victorian to presant most of the time.
You could try to steampunk him but if you add too much, you stop being the doctor, unless you are a david tennant look alike, lol.
Honestly, were it me, i'd just go with the brown striped suit and trenchcoat white shirt, black tie outfit -steampunk enough for my tastes, but I would fab up the psychic paper folder thingy and write or print "steampunk" or "I'm wearing steampunk kit", just for added effect.
More of a doctor goes to a steampunk themed party, than a steampunk doctor.
Good luck!

LDHCIII In reply to Hexonal [2010-09-19 03:30:06 +0000 UTC]

I have the Suit and Coat, but I was thinking now of sorta making my own Doctor now, by adding a Fedora, Goggles, and my Fourth Doctor's Scarf and Screwdriver. The Seventh Doctor also had a Calling Card, which is a very Victorian thing to have, and I just came up with a Steampunk version. Thank's for the reply too.
