Damon variegatus, also known as a Tanzanian Giant Tailless Whip Scorpion, is an absolutely bloody brilliant bit of possible Craus reference/inspiration that I thought I'd pass along.
Also, feel free to submit any work you do for Blood & Dye into the main bit of your gallery, post directly onto the walls of the other team members, and just generally talk about the project. Mysterious conversations in public locations do wonders for advertising.
For instance, when some random person comes across this post and makes note of my comment that the Craus sketch you did was bloody brilliant and that I'd like to see a higher-detail, scientifically-approached (think of a cyclopedia entry) version of it that a modeler could use for a reference, that random person would be naturally interested. If he then saw other references - perhaps in a journal - he would become even more interested, and perhaps become a fan, all due to incidental advertising.

Ah yes I see what you mean. I'll try to be as cryptic as possible and on that note; What do you think about Coconut Crabs? Way too bulky? What about their size though, is that about right?
Anyway, well I'll get to more advertising in a bit. The Target Corporation requires my assistance today.

I'd like to end up with a pet Coconut Crab, eventually; who needs a guard dog when you have the world's largest land dwelling crustacean? Their size is a nice balance between being large enough to appear dangerous and small enough to not seem ridiculous (I like to call that megashark syndrome).
Bulk-wise, it depends on how you want it to move; fast skittery-things that try to run you down look best with needle-like limbs and a long body, while slower-moving corpse eaters or 'tank' creatures benefit from a dense, rock-like physique, perhaps designed to sit still for long hours, blending into environments.
