You're welcome. Your work's cool, which is why I added it to Favourites, of course! I like funny and thought-provoking stuff. I hate George Bush, he's a fucking idiot, and I think we should make him walk barefoot on a beach in Blackpool, England, which is always littered with broken glass shards. Wonderful.

Hehe.

Rip George's feet open, just like he's ripped the heart out of so-called "democratic" politics!

I hate math . But I like Comedy. Especially the comedy of Bill Hicks...

Jaxles In reply to HousesOfApollo [2005-01-20 23:21:28 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry you hate math. That's why I have my regular non-math age up there as well. And I haven't heard a lot of Bill Hicks' stuff, but my dad's got a few of his CDs; I should definitely give 'em a listen sometime.

HousesOfApollo In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-21 00:21:05 +0000 UTC]

He's AWESOME. And incredibly deep, he was truly an artist.. I model a lot of what I write from his philosophy...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to HousesOfApollo [2005-01-21 01:26:33 +0000 UTC]

Very cool, very cool. I'm kinda that way with George Carlin myself, along those lines in which he's more than just a comedian, like Hicks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HousesOfApollo In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-21 03:56:32 +0000 UTC]

Hehe. But in my opinion Hicks had more of a philosophy; while Carlin just tried to tear something down. Hicks was also trying to communicate very explicit ideals to the world. That's why he was so driven right up to his death. But Carlin's cool too... Hicks was a dark poet...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to HousesOfApollo [2005-01-22 02:52:53 +0000 UTC]

It is true that Carlin tends to tear stuff down, but behind the destruction he is able to pinpoint exactly what is wrong with what he's tearing down and what could be done to fix it, even if those ideas are somewhat absurd (world peace through constant dancing, anyone?). So while he's making fun of something, he's making a lot of sense at the same time. That's the essence of the most recent incarnation of Carlin, I think.

HousesOfApollo In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-22 06:44:05 +0000 UTC]

Yea... Reminds me of a lyric in the Tool song "Aenima"

"Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines."

That song is so meaningful for me it's unbelievable...

Jaxles In reply to ryutora [2005-01-09 19:37:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha, congratulations!

The icon's sort of like my small little inside joke, since I wear a contact in my right eye only (therefore, I don't have 20/20 vision). So I typed in small writing, and put the obligatory obscenity at the end, and Voila! New icon!

I'll probably change it back to the regular ol' blue icon in a couple days or so. Just felt like doing something different for a little bit.

Hi! I'm Jaxles! I am indeed from TN. Nice to finally meet someone else from there.

I'm in Hendersonville. How about you?

Ah, Donelson. Well, once again, nice to finally meet someone that lives near me (even though it's still a small distance away, it's closer than anyone else I know at DA).

Danelese In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-08 18:19:27 +0000 UTC]

nice to meet you too
oh cool, i just noticed you play drums
i do too how long have you been playing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to Danelese [2005-01-08 20:04:29 +0000 UTC]

Wow, another drummer from TN? This is a fascinating turn of events!

If you count the two years in which I played snare drum in my middle school band, I've been playing drums (snare and full set) for about 4 1/2 years. How long have you been playing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Danelese In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-08 22:52:30 +0000 UTC]

I started playing full set in 6th grade because i was the only drummer (it was great )
and i got my own set two years after that, so i guess that makes it almost 7 years now
im not the best in the world, but i still love it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to Danelese [2005-01-08 23:31:56 +0000 UTC]

That's very cool. Playing for that long, do you still have a basic set-up, or something with more pieces, and have you learned techniques like double-bass, etc.?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Danelese In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-09 07:12:23 +0000 UTC]

The most superfluous thing i have is a cow bell
It's red, to match my red Pacific DW set
I could use more pieces if i wanted to i guess, but i have always been simplistic when it comes to that kind of thing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to Danelese [2005-01-09 07:45:48 +0000 UTC]

Red cowbell? That is awesome. Didn't know they were even MADE in different colors. The one I have is just black, like the rest of 'em. But you know what they say: "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is...MORE COWBELL!!" I've been working on double-bass chops myself, trying to build up some speed in those legs. I have yet to reach the price range of a DW set, but for now I'm quite happy with my blue Yamaha set.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Danelese In reply to Jaxles [2005-01-09 07:51:17 +0000 UTC]

hehe that's awesome
alway need MORE COWBELL!!
i saw a t-shirt with that on it the other day, it makes me so happy
and good luck to you with your double-base pedal skills
ok...so are you in a band or what?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Jaxles In reply to Danelese [2005-01-09 07:56:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I need to get that shirt.

I'm not in a band, unfortunately, though I sure wish I was. Finding other musicians at school has proven itself to be quite difficult...
