Cheers Jim, I could use a little extra support. Despite opening this account three years back, I never actually did anything with it until two weeks ago, hence it looks a little sad, pathetic & lonely... lol

Sorry for the lack of a timely reply here and on LinkedIn, I was under the deadline cosh finishing the lettering on Sweeney Todd (which you also had a hand in, didn't you?) but it's done and dusted now.
Cheers!

Hey Jim, no worries!
Yes, Jason and I coloured up The Todd for Mr Bryant! - Congrats on getting the lettering done! Will you be coming to the launch in Cardiff comic con in Feb?
Have a lovely Christmas!

Well, with this and Damaged Goods both launching, I really ought to come to Cardiff, didn't I?
I'll need to check my schedule -- I'm definitely doing Hi-Ex in Inverness in March, but finances and work permitting, I'd like to make it to Cardiff, too.
Right, now I'm off to start my Christmas shopping. Hope you enjoy the festive season!
Cheers!
Jim

START your Christmas Shopping? ...wow.. there's nothing like the last minute, eh? - good luck!!
Happy holidays!

Oh hey cool! Likewise, I really enjoyed your lettering! A solid letterer really is under-appreciated these days.

Thanks! It's always a pleasure to get some room on the art to bung some BIG sound effects in, too.

Hahaha yeah I've done some lettering myself too, so I'm always super-conscious of leaving room for the letters. Sometimes I leave too much room, which makes the page look too sparse, so I'm still trying to find a nice balance. But I'll get there.

Thing is, a lot of letterers these days seem to think that the purpose of lettering is to stay out of the way of the artwork, leading to these stupid, fiddly little SFX tucked away in the corners of the panels. I disagree with that! I think the purpose of lettering is to work WITH the artwork. If it's a big explosion, it wants BIG SFX! I was rather pleased with this oneβ¦

I absolutely agree! That page is looking flipping awesome BTW!
My favorite sound effects are those that look like they're a part of the artwork. Guys like Jim Aparo and Alan Davis have the sfx be part of their pencils. I'm nowhere near as comfortable drawing in my own sfx, but I'm really glad to see you're of the same mindset. Great job on the lettering on that page!
(I hadn't actually seen the colored version of that page either, so that was a nice treat!

Funny you should say that: Alan Davis is never far from my thoughts when I'm doing SFX.
