it's still a minority, but the community keeps growing and get's more attention from the press every year. at the biggest conventions number of visitors is limited to about 3500 persons, and by no means everyone gets to attend them because of the limit I actually have no idea how many you'd get if you counted all anime, cosplay, j-rock, lolita and other japan-based-fans here in Finland. not everyone likes them all

That stinks that they have a cap at the conventions. I am amazed by your English!!! I am currently learning Japanese in college and took Spanish in highschool. I enjoy learning Japanese more though. I know that in Finland that Finnish and some Swedish is spoken.

Since my sister married an american, I've been speaking English since I was 5 y.o. In Finland we automatically start learning English at elementary school (about at the age of 9) and Swedish at middle school (at the age of 14). We actually have many choises of languages we want to study starting from elementary school, like German, French and Russian. I can speak Finnish, English and Spanish, survive with Swedish and German, and I know some Latin and Japanese

See, I expected that you probably began learning English at a young age. Wow, that is amazing. I only speak English, some Spanish, and moreso Japanese since that is what I am currently studying. That is really impressive that you speak those languages. My mother is fluent in French. She studied it throughout college and highschool
