wasn't me, hehe.. we actually moved back to Houston a while back. We only hit louisiana to visit the in-laws now, and that's pretty much for holidays and whatnot.

Well, I have been VERY TIRED lately and have literally been crawling home from work, feeding my kiddo, and dozing off on the couch- accomplishing absolutely NOTHING. Luckily, I recently found out the reason I'm so tired is that we are FINALLY expecting again! 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thanks I only got one present, but it's a nifty one.. my aunt knitted me Tom Baker's scarf from Dr. Who (yes, I told her that was what I wanted, but still cool that she did it for me).

No problem!! I may not ever have the patience to try it out myself, but I think it's an awesome tutorial and am happy to fav it on the off-chance that some other knotwork fans might find it that way. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge

Thanks for your comment ! It's true that we have the same haircut ! And, when i say i'm not in shape for beeing a model, i mean, for beeing a professionnal model for a professionnal photographer who has the habbit to shot very thin and tall girls, wich i'm definitly not ! Still i love curves and beautiful eyes, so, i guess i'm very happy with myself, and by the way, you're very cute

lildevilll [2009-09-14 01:23:10 +0000 UTC]
heya question , did u layer the bedtime story pic so the kanji went under the rope ?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Knottynymph In reply to lildevilll [2009-09-14 15:25:05 +0000 UTC]
Not quite. What I did was, took the pic of girl with rope, added kanji in layers with transparency information, used the erase tools at various opacities to erase where the kanji overlapped the edges of the rope (so that it looked a little fuzzy at the edges, as if the rope were covering bits of the letters), and then did a bunch of burning and such to deepen the shadows of the combined layers so that the layers of text would be shadowed along with the skin/rope layer.
I think, given more time I probably could have made it a bit more realistic- but it was a spur of the moment thing, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, for a first try.

No problem-- I actually know that fellow in the photo ([link] ), him and I camped next to each other for a few seasons (in almost matching Suburbans, lol). He's the one of the nicest demons you'll ever meet, hehe. I see photos of him from time to time, but yours happens to be a very good shot, which is why I added it to the collection. I try to collect photos where both the costume AND the photography are of impressing quality.

People keep telling me it is a 'Great Costume', and if they keep it up, I may actually get an ego.

Knottynymph In reply to Indigowolv [2008-08-15 14:37:08 +0000 UTC]
Hehe.. an ego isn't always a bad thing, as long as you keep it to a certain level
I do think it's a great costume. I'm only recently discovering the "steampunk" movement. I'm fascinated by it (as I am with all things that involve strange costuming). I'm still trying to research more about it, and where one would find reason to garb up in this fashion, as I think I would have fun playing around as a "sky pirate" or something of the like.

Brassgoggles.com
Steampunkworkshop.com
and steampunkmagazine.com
You can download their magazine for free there.
Also, if you make a myspace, there is an entire steampunk circuit, and they are all willing to talk and share information. I useually hated myspace, but me and my crew have tapped into a vein of pure awesome.
I was the same way with steampunk. I have always been steampunk, I just never knew what it was called!
And if you want some cool costumes, look up the sky pirates called the 'outlanders'

Hooray! Thanks for the info- I bookmarked the magazine so I can start from there.. it looked like the site had links to the other two and a bunch of other places on it. I'll put off the myspace for now, because I'm too busy to keep up with it right now, but I'll keep it in mind.
I can't wait to try to put together something steampunkish (I'm thinking a sexy girl assistant of Captain Nemo like he was in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).

The comic or the movie? Because the comic was sooo much better! (especially with the uber-psychotic invisible man)

Knottynymph In reply to Indigowolv [2008-08-16 19:00:22 +0000 UTC]
I loved the comic, and actually enjoyed the movie too, although I disagreed with them blowing Quartermain's role so far out of proportion- I guess that's what it took to land Connery.
I was kind of thinking on all this last night and realized I still have an old school typewriter (pre-electric) which if I can bring myself to tear it up, would probably yield some nifty craft bits.

What you need to do is find Salvation Army stores, flea markets, and yard sales, and find old broken machines and type-writers to tear apart...you can usually get them for ten bucks or less...pretty reasonable. Or just grab broken ones at the dump for free!
Also, record players are a good source for Cogs and gears. (nobody really knows this yet, so get them now before everyone starts grabbing them up)

so how did you find out about mechacon? I went online and barley found this one site that had louisiana conventions on it. then, i had to find the website forthe actual con, later on. yet some how everyone else kenw about it for 4 years now. and i've been searching for these for 5. i don't get it. by the way. someone told me there was one in baton rouge. by the way what part of louisiana did you move to again?

Knottynymph In reply to wilrocku [2008-08-09 01:21:47 +0000 UTC]
I found out about MechaCon because my sister near Houston runs cosplay picnics and is going to be the cosplay coordinator for kamikazicon (or however that's spelled). She stayed at my house for the weekend so she could meet up with some of the folks she works with who were going to be at this con.
I live just five minutes away from where MechaCon was held, in South Lafayette.
The one in Baton Rouge will be "Louisianime"..the brand new one you were in the press release room for- there hasn't been another one other than MechaCon in LA before, that I know of.
Send me a note if ya wanna chat more about cons.. I try to check my DA site once a day-- I love talking costumes and photography and such-- I may even put up that photo you took of me here in my gallery, if you don't mind. I really like it
