You have to wait for the administrator or one who runs the group to approve of your request. Mine took about a day. You'll get a notification saying you were accepted.

If you're using the computer in the top dark green bar of the site is a link "more". If you hover your mouse over it a panel will open up and within it will be the option groups. If you click on that it will bring you to the site's groups. There is also a search bar, for if you want a group on a certain topic. Once you found a group you like, just click on it's name and in the upper right corner of the page should be a button that says join our group. If you need more help there is this FAQ. Say Lonecl0ude...have you, at the beginning of your having an account on here, felt unnoticed? Were there were people who faved your work, yet they didn't give any thoughts on the comments sections ? Did you feel like a "Notice me, my sempai!" kind of person? Did you still have people to talk to when you responded to their work?

Yes. One person commented and that was it so i lived off of their attention. Heck i still got a senpai on here(an author) that i talk to on another site but wont follow me here.either way its completely normal to feel alone and lost or ignored. Which is ironic,yoy feel allone yet so many people feel it at the same time. Everyone can just be alone together.
