Hello there, I want to say your work is amazing. I found you though some of your old animations on youtube while I was looking for ways to animate something for my own project. It really helped me see what can be done.
Anyway
I hope you have a great day!

Oh wow! You study at Ringling?? I would have transferred to it this fall. It's SO close to home, but it's sooo expesive ahhh. That and, I am not so sure I want to study animation.Β ;-;
Aanyways, I wish you the best in your goals! I love your style and gallery, and I hope to see more of your art soon! Definitely watching your stuff! Β

Well, if you do decide to do animation I would say Ringling is the best, even if it is expensive but the school can help by giving scholarships to students from what I know Β
Thank you! I'm happy you like my work

I hope so. I know it's never too late to try ^^
And you're welcome! By the way, are you specializing in animation specifically or are you doing other things?
I took the first computer animation class about a year ago and it was a bust. I only enjoyed texturing and lighting, but not much else. Sadly, we couldn't hop into too much animation because the semester ended.

We kind of do a bit of everything. we just finished our lighting and texturing assignment. It was a nightmare X-X. I don't really enjoy that very much XDΒ
But yeah, we learn to do everything. The program pretty much teaches us to be generalists Β

May I ask what you did??
When we worked on modeling, I wanted to slam my head against a desk LOL. It was SO tedious! We were using Cinema 4D and my professor stated that Maya was far more complicated than that, so I can't begin to imagine it. I don't know what software you use, but those are the only ones I'm familiar with.
I DO want to get into the animation world though, whether I'm the animator or in some other marketing/executive position. But as much as I adore 3D animation, my heart's geared towards 2D, storyboarding, and concept art.

We use maya to do our models and it really isn't hard. We also just recently started using ZBrush for detail work and displacement maps, so the final render looks pretty
In the second semester of Freshman year we actually do some 2D animation we do 2D in first semester of Sophmore year too. But then we start focusing on 3D more. We do have a concept class where we do storyboard animatics you might really enjoy that class Β

Omg yesss! ;m; That's wonderful!! I'd love to go to a class like that. I was looking through their site and they only have computer animation.. I'm not much of a 3D person, as I've mentioned before
It's still very tempting. I've been admitted to a public university farther inland that doesn't have a bad animation program, apparently. It's kind of weird to hear that from a school that's not an art school. I'm sure there's still time for me to head to Ringling after, but goodness knows what'll happen in a year!
(Gosh.. I'm awfully sorry for the rants. I just got excited to know a cool artist is so close to home! )

Well computer animation has that class. because we need to learn all the rules of filmmaking and at the end of the year we also need to make a short film for our thesis so we need to have a concept class. And you can learn There are 4 years and that's plenty of time to learn
In the I don't think it really matters where you study as long as you are doing what you like and you feel like you are improving

The only experience I have in film making is writing up the script. Even then, I've only ever gotten as far as writing the first act of a movie. I absolutely adore writing, and scriptwriting is a blast! The format is not, however. I think it's a pain in the butt Concept art is the best, though. I can stare at concept art all day if I wanted to!
I guess you have a point. It's pretty hard to shake away the "if you don't go to art school, you won't make it" thoughts. It almost feels like the standard rule at this point The only thing I cling to is the fact DreamWorks looks for potential employees at that university. That definitely spikes up some hopes for me But for now, all I can do is teach myself and grow.
Sorry for such a late response.. life happens XD
