Indeed. It was very in depth. I admit, I'm not done, but I've already learned a lot about digipainting. I've been using the GIMP for years, but only for photo and graphics work and I wanted to get more into painting.
Also, since you seem to be a painting guru, I was wondering if you've ever used Krita: [link]
It seems like it's more designed for painting than the GIMP, having natural medium and painting physics emulation and more color space support. I've been trying it out, but haven't found many tuts.

Digital painting usually sports quite a different set of skills compared to photo-manips and regular gfx work, but you'll find that those skills do come in handy in painting now and then too. As for the tutorial, I hope you take to posting your result when you're done, always fun for me to see what people create!
I have tried to use Krita now and then, but it still feels very much like a beta release to me. Features change and disappear after a while, drawing also felt very slow. It has also always been extremely unstable on my computer, and the current version crashes on startup for me since it does not like the drawing tablet ... It sounds like a promising program, but it still has a long way to go.

That's been my experience with most of KDE recently. LOL I assume it will become more stable.
I will certainly post my pic when it is finished, although I hghly doubt it will be near as impressive as years...maybe after a few millennia more of practice.
Your art is really awesome, and I feel like I've seen it before. Do you do RPG work, by any chance?

Hmm no, KDE has been rock steady for me for years (still using 3.5 series though), only Krita behaves like that. Ah well.
Whatever the outcome you get from the tutorial it's something new learned. I make lots of mistakes when I paint, that's why I always have "Advanced critique encouraged" selected, to get help with that, and hopefully not make the same mistakes next time. Besides, the tutorial only shows *my* way of doing things. Everyone work in their own way and a particular work method works better for some than for others.
At any rate, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that a lot! I am involved in some RPGs privately, but I don't do any work for any RPG company or some such if that's what you mean. My images have appeared here and there on the web though, one is also used for a screenshot on gimp.org, maybe that's where you saw it. Apart from that I guess the fantasy/sci-fi theme is not overly unusual on DA (and the web in general) so maybe you just just saw someone who happen to have a similar style ...

Well, I admit that it's only been since my move to KDE 4. It's not quite ready for Primetime, really.
That's true. I think all art is a learning process - a journey more than a destination.
You are right, fantasy art is prevalent on the Net. I work on RPGs for a living, so I see a lot of it. It's possible I saw yours elsewhere and just assumed it must have been from work.

Thanks a lot! Yes, I have print one, for my Haloween costume and one for my girlfriend's costume on my printer. But I haven't done a real print... If I had the money, it would have been already done but you know the artist life: A lot of people likes your stuff till it's time to pay for it! LOL!

Like the DevArt Prints program, but for T-shirts, coffee mugs, posters, etc. You sign up (basic membership is free), upload your artwork or photos, pick what products you want them on, and then you can make them public to sell to other people, or just buy them for yourself.
I've been using it for about a year now and I'm pretty happy with it.
If you decide to sign up, consider using my referral link [link] cuz they give me a 5% bonus or something.
