Thank you so much for adding "historical fiction: male love before homosexuality" and "a female body and power imbalance are not equality" to your favorites! What do you think?Β

Youβre WELCOME!! I really liked both of them and think they were super interesting!! With the βHistorical Fictionβ it gave an interesting perspective on homosexual relationships and what they probably experienced during that time. In βA Female Bodyβ I learned so much and was shocked by a lot of what I read.

π That makes me happy!
yes, as a member of the LGBTQ community, I have studied a lot of the history, and I almost didn't have to research it, given that I know the pain of living a secret life and having to act like everything is just fine when you're actually dying inside. And that has to be even worse in places like Somalia, Russia, Iraq, and so many other countries where it could mean death.
in "a female body", I just had to draw attention to the fact that a lot of women who are regarded as "sex symbols" actually had a very difficult relationship with sex and even were victims of sexual violence; Marilyn Monroe is a good example of this dichotomy.
And that dichotomy is very much entwined in United States history; women of color, and especially American Indigenous and Black women have for so long been depicted as either asexual and unattractive or as hypersexual exotic toys when in reality both groups are disproportionately victims of sexual violence, given the long history of genocide against them. Indigenous women and Black men are disproportionately victims of violence, full stop.

You are very welcome!
It's really cool how you wrote it in two languages, and is only seeing what the husband is saying leaves a lot of uncertainties that give it a dramatic touch. It is a sad situation that has probably happened a lot and I'm glad you wrote a story to remind people of that!

I've been studying (Scottish) Gaelic since high school and I have written the overwhelming majority of my poetry in that language (often providing the English translation).
Yes, this is an unfortunate truth that many couples still face and I wanted so much to give the pathos and the grim reality. Art is my weapon of choice against injustice.

That's really cool! I've always wanted to learn another language but I'm not very good at it.
I'm glad that you use art as your weapon, too many people use violence and they don't see that it just creates more violence.

Don't undercut yourself; you never know! You could prove perfectly capable in more than one language.
I will always remember that Rita Mae Brown said, "Art doesn't have to soothe. If it angers people, that's fine... because it means they're thinking. You've got to get them thinking!"

Well thanks! I started studying Arabic in college, it isn't as hard as I though, but the textbook made it very confusing!
I've never heard that quote before, but I like it, my teacher in high school said something similar, that art is suppose to makes us feel.
