Hi, it's rare to see an artist using mypaint that also on a non-wacom tablet. You are using linux?

I'm using Windows since I have like 300 games for my PC. I did have linux on one older PC. I saw your dilemma about buying a new tablet. Just grab a cheap genius or trust. Really it's all about what you can do with it, not much about the tablet itself. 15 years ago pros were creating beautiful digital paintings with tablets much inferior to todays lowest of lowend.

Really I have no doubt about what a genius/trust/uc logic or any other tablet can do. Actually the art depends on the artist I believe. But the problem is Since I'm on Linux....wacom works out of the box...and other tablets have some difficulties with Krita which is coded in Qt. But I heard it works with mypaint and gimp flawlessly.
Btw, your paintings are just beyond awesome, they are masterclass

I do. Go to your MyPaint installation folder. There is a folder called backgrounds. Place any PNG file in there and it should work. Default size is 64x64 PNG. Good luck.

Did you first paint in real life before digital painting ?
I'm trying to learn using mypaint but it's quite confusing and I don't find tutos about general way of painting.
Maybe all the painting softwares are similar and I should look for painter/photoshop tutos ?

Look up tutorials that describe fundamentals of painting - edges, form, value, color, composition, perspective etc. But most important step in my opinion is just painting a lot and thinking about how can you make things better, little by little. There is a ton of great painters to be found here on deviantart - study their work. Glad you like my work, thanks for stopping by.

Yes, they are the same for digital and traditional painting. If an oil painter knows his perspective and light theory well he will transfer that to his digital work, as an example.
